Pros: Water really does stay fresh, as heating element is not immersed Cons: Indicator light and on-button are located on the back
After almost 20 years of iced tea addiction, I think I’ve probably brewed iced tea using every method known. I’ve draped tea bags over the top of a big clear jug, left to sit for several hours on a south-facing porch. Dangled tea bags over the side of a...
I can honestly say that this is one product (handsome as it is) that I could live without. In fact, when I ripped open the happy birthday wrapping paper and lifted the kettle out of the box, I really didn't think I'd use it right away, since I...
Pros: Bring hot water to the kitchen table without a hot plate.
Cons: Hard to get your hand inside to clean.
We recently received this product as a gift and at first I was resistant because of the electric cord and base but after trying it once I can tell why we like it so much. I make coffee one cup at a time with a paper filter, coffee grinder and ...
Pros: Super fast, super hot water in minutes. Cons: Kettle gets too hot, risk of steam burn.
I have always loved hot tea and thought this item looked fun so I registered for it when I got married. Then I got it and the thought went though my mind that I would not use it very much. I quickly learned I was wrong. This tea kettle is great. ...
Pros: build quality
fast heating Cons: possible burns
noisy
fill method is cumbersome
My wife and I have always relied heavily on the good ol' water kettle. Whether it was dorm living and making ramen to boiling water for the newborn, our kettle never left the small condo countertop real estate. When our most recent model went kaput ...
Pros: Improved design, truly automatic, very hot water - FAST. Cons: Hole is a little small for cleaning inside.
02/03/04 This little pot is still going strong! Heats very well and has not been one minute of trouble since we got it. Our water is not hard, so we have had no scale buildup in 3 full years. I feel certain a little vinegar water would quickly do ...
Pros: fast boiling time, get about 5 cups of water at times Cons: You'll get steam while pouring. small mouth opening
I saw this one listed as the best kettle in the class, which is to my surprise. I've written a review on another electric kettle by kitchenaid, which I thought was better. The reason why I'm using this one now is because my guests have burnt the ...
Pros: The stainless steel looks nicer than plastic.
Shorter (though wider) than most jug kettles. Cons: Design fault/or build quality issue means it won't last.
We've had two of these in the last five years. It works well... until it breaks. Both the ones we've had have failed in a similar way - the connection to the base starts to be unreliable and eventually fails.
Pros: The design and appearance are very good, Cons: Handle came off. Could be dangerous.
I cook a lot and rely on ready supply of good hot water. The handle, which seems to have been welded to the body of the kettle, came off, rendering the thing useless. I had no response from Cuisinart when I asked for advice about this. It was, of course, just beyond the guarantee period. It could be a hazard if it comes off when the kettle is filled with boiling water.
RE: Cuisinart KUA 17 Electric Kettle by ldsage ,Feb 24 '05
Pros: It is easy to lift, stainless steel and has a longer warranty than most. Cons: None
I've tried several electric kettles and this one is by far the best. The handle on the top makes it easier to lift when full of water. The ones with the handles on the side don't balance well. I didn't find that the steam drifted onto my hand as a previous comment implies.
Worked great....for about 6 months by chickpea02 ,Aug 18 '08
Pros: Heats water quickly Cons: Cordless model loses contact with base and corded model catches fire.
As others have complained, the connection to the base stopped working after only 6 months. It is impossible to reach their customer service department. Mostly I liked this model - cordless, but it was difficult to clean inside and the spout pours out water weirdly, it sort of glugs out. My first Cuisinart kettle lasted longer, maybe 5 years, until the electric cord got hot, melted, shot sparks at me and went on fire! I think I'll try another brand.
Heats Water Quickly and Water Doesn't Have a Bad Taste or Smell by jonlosche ,Oct 19 '07
Pros: Quick boil, quiet, no bad smell or taste Cons: Spot-weld for the handle may prove to be weak.
We have been having bad experiences trying to purchase a new kettle to replace our old Russell and Hobbs (European manufacture not the new Chinese). They all seem to have a problem with taste and smell if you leave water in them. That is longer than the first boil. The Cuisinart had no problems with that and boils water quickly and quietly.
I was nervous buying the Cuisinart since there had been several bad reviews saying their customer service is unresponsive. I did a little research and called them directly. Fastest connection to a real person I have experienced in a long time, they do require you to pay for shipping if you return the unit. Not much profit on a sixty-dollar item so that should be expected. Shipping for this item would be about five dollars.
Only bad thing I can see could be the thin steal it's made of and the spot-weld for the handle may prove to be weak with long term use. Our old Russell and Hobbs was a tank compared to this one but it also cost twice what we paid for the Cuisinart.
Pros: Great product when it actually works Cons: Worlds worst customer service, it only worked for a year
I was very happy with this kettle for the first year. Then the switch went out and it quit working. Tried to contact customer service, as the thing has a 3 year warranty so I wasn't too concerned.
It was downhill from there. I made numerous attempts to contact customer service, to no avail. I tried emailing them from the website, got no reply. Tried by phone numerous times, never got a real person. They put you on ignore, then eventually you get a message saying they are busy, call back later AND THEN YOU GET DISCONNECTED!!! Tried leaving a voice mail, they never returned my call. Needless to say I will never buy another Cuisinart product again :-(
Worst customer service I've encountered in years by xo1rider ,Jul 16 '07
Pros: Good until it breaks
Cons: No customer service, warranty not worth the paper it's printed on.
Kettle worked find for a year or so then just quit. As another reviewer reported, in essence they have no customer service to speak of. Won't answer email and don't answer their phone.
Each time I called I was cut off before ever talking to a human being.
Total waste of money, I will never buy another product from this company.
