The best washing machine in the universe!

by jenlemon , Jun 12 '00
Pros: Blinding-white socks! No more bleach!
Cons: Expensive -but lasts 20 years!
I should state my bias early. I think that most European appliances (especially German ones) are miles ahead of the American models available. I also have an unnatural level of excitement for laundry. So here goes...

Will Make a Believer Out of You

Pros: Can clean 3/4 the size loads of a full-size machine we had at another home.
Cons: They don't make cars.
My wife and I purchased a small place with a tight closet for a stackable laundry set. The twenty year old Whirlpool combined unit was very tired and leaving a horrible amount of soap in our clothing so that one would get a rash from the presence of this residue. As depth proved the most difficult dimension to allow for, the Mieles just 22 1/2" depth (we also obtained also a Miele T1515 dryer) seemed the right ones for us.

I know you are looking at the posting date and considering that these are old machines. That is true. We happened to find a place that had seven sets of these new and uncrated, despite Miele not selling them since 2002 (University Electric in Santa Clara also have the current production units). After checking with Miele that they are still with a years repair service, we took them home.

Set up including stacking and mounting the 220 panel took about 3 1/2 hours. This would have taken a lot less time, but you must remember our space situation. We are very happy there was such a good solution to our laundry and space problems.
