Pros: Sturdy, hard working, sweeps well on hard surfaces. Time saver. Cons: So far none.
Because I have owned two Roombas, I decided to buy the iRobot Dirt Dog for my husband for Christmas. I must admit to being a little selfish, as I thought how nice it would be not to have to sweep the balcony or back porch again. But basically I would ...

Finally A Dog That Leaves Less Dirt
by tedmodern ,Dec 14 '06
Pros: Does all the work. Little to no assistance required. Plenty of battery time. Cons: Wish he could climb the stairs when he was done.
Bought a dirt dog (impulse buy. I love that.) Wow. Technology to relieve the strain of the tired masses. I feel like a sweat shop owner (get to work dog!) I love it! I do nothing and reap all the rewards. Now I know what this robber baron stuff is all about.
But really. Little D (as he's known hip-hop circles) is no pooddle when it comes to getting his claws dirty. I have an outdoor patio that I and friends and neighbors love to dirty up. I turn Little D loose out there. The basement of my building (I'm kinda sorta the manager) needs the occasional sweeping (so the owner says.) I use to do it. Now Little D jumps at the chance. I even use him indoors. My linoleum is pretty old so I'm no scared of scruffing it.

Fetch One
by shellgirl ,Jan 02 '07
Pros: Keeps my house free of sawdust. Cons: I could use another one upstairs.
This thing worked out perfectly for in our basement. My husband loves wood carving, but is not a big fan of post wood carving clean up. The dirt dog just kind of wanders around his work room picking up sawdust and chips of wood. I love it because my husband isn't tracking as much sawdust upstairs and the whole house is cleaner.
Its battery lasts pretty long and it's amazing how much stuff it can vacuum up before the tray needs emptying.

Spectacular Robot
by doradora2000 ,Oct 19 '06
Pros: Robust, sturdy, just as smart and effective as the roomba but for heavier jobs. Cons: So far none.
I bought one of these for my boyfriend (I have a roomba and love it). He's a woodworker/installation artist and has converted his garage into a workshop/studio of sorts. It's got concrete flooring throughout and gets completely thrashed after a few days of work so, being completely sold on my roomba I picked one of these up for him. He is beyond happy with it. These machines deliver. Highly recommended.
