Pros: None! If it won't carry a baby, who cares if it has a rain hood? Cons: Pathetic design! Worthless back support, rough velcro rubs baby's legs, too many straps!
Even though it cost less than a Baby Bjorn, this carrier was the biggest waste of money we encountered as new parents! Forget all of the features Kelty is touting. The people that designed this obviously never actually tried carrying a child in it. ...
Pros: Truly comfortable for the baby and the wearer; durable. Cons: Velcro leg attachments can rub baby's legs.
The Kelty K.I.D.S. Kangaroo pack is WONDERFUL! The pack is truly comfortable to wear for long periods of time and my son loves it. He is thrilled to be carried all over and does not fuss while in it. He is even comfortable enough to fall...
Pros: Sturdy and Light--FIT FIT FIT!!! Cons: Can be complicated to adjust
I am in love with this carrier! I'll start with a little backstory (pun fully intended): I feel very strongly that babies should be carried as much as possible. And I have a rather nasty hip injury from a car accident. Enter (finally!) the Base Camp! ...
We purchased a second hand Kelty Kangaroo from eBay after our baby got too heavy for the Baby Bjorn. The trouble we were having was a lot of shoulder strain from his nearly 20 pounds basically hanging off our shoulders. The Kelty Kangaroo has a waist...
Pros: Puts the weight on your hips, not back Cons: pricey
Our Kangaroo Pack made the difference between a good summer and frustration last year. When our first baby was born, we had a hand-me-down front pack (manufacturer's name mercifully lost in oblivion) which was absolute torture to wear for more than a few...
Pros: Lightweight, keeps baby close to mommy, keeps mommy's hands free to deal with siblings. Cons: Bib is too small. Can be hard to put on alone. Instructions not detailed enough.
I bought this carrier after my baby started to get wiggly in the NoJo Sling.
I did try some cheaper carriers, and being a large person they all seemed to tight and they dug into my shoulders.
Pros: easy to use and put on Cons: kid gets bigger and heavier:)
This is too cool. I used this for both of my kids ( they are a bit older now...but I did use one )
I prefer this brand over the others for many reasons and the first being comfort. I found that this is much more comfortable than the other name...
First off I have to say I love this site...I can rant and rave with out my family getting mad!!! Now onto more important things this carrier. We LOVE it. My husband is 6'5'' and I am 5'11'', neither one of us is thin and this carrier fits us GREAT. We...
Pros: comfortable and very stable Cons: on the bulky side, awkward for naps
several months ago, when our daughter was still a newborn, i took our 100 lb chesapeake bay retriever for a walk w/ our daughter in the kangaroo. i met up with some girlfriends for coffee. we fastened my dogs leash to one of the chairs. the friend who...
Pros: None. Cons: Your aching neck back shoulders.
Purchased online because of the Kelty name. Have had a Kelty backpack for 20 years now so felt this would be a safe bet.
Basic and HUGE problem: The waistbelt attaches to the frame via a strange all-in-one-connected arrangement; first connecting to the back webbing then to the shoulder straps then to the frame's top bar. The result being a LARGE portion of the weight that should be carried ALL by the waist belt is carried on your shoulders.
Key to a good pack (baby or camping, does not matter which) is INDEPENDENT adjustment of Shoulder Straps, Back Support, and Waist Belt. This pack combines all; obviously done for cheap cost of manufacture.
Strongly suggest avoiding this back-breaker, but if you must, purchase only with an no-questions-asked iron-clad store return policy.
Our son loves riding in it! by lexsmommy ,Nov 09 '04
Pros: Easy to put on, the baby loves it and often falls asleep in it! Cons: Bulky, hard to store compactly.
We bought this online at REI.com for about $100- it was on sale at the time. Our son is about 17 pounds- 7 months old and he loves it! We've been using it since he was 5 months old, for short hikes through the hills and also where strollers aren't allowed (National Aquarium in Baltimore). My husband uses it more than I do, but when I use it (I'm 5 feet about 100 pounds) I can easily walk around for a few hours before feeling some strain on my back.
The very best baby carrier by emkristine ,Aug 22 '06
Pros: comfort, able to lay baby down without pulling them out of a pack Cons: quite a lot of straps, takes a minute or two to put it on
I am currently using this pack with my 3rd baby. Even though it takes a while to figure out all the straps it is the most comfortable pack I have used. It is the only one I know of that when your baby falls asleep you can quietly detach the baby, all wrapped up, from your part of the pack and lay them down. All of my kids loved to be in this pack and I would have never been able to make it through the grocery store with 3 kids under the age of 5 without it.
Pros: Better than no carrier! Cons: Uncomfortable and very difficult to get child in and out without assistance
I am a big fan of the baby carrier as my baby loves to be held close to my body. We received this carrier as a gift and have struggled with it for 7 months now. I do use it daily, but I don't like it and would certainly never recommend it to anyone!
The number of straps and buckles make it quite difficult to get the baby strapped in without assistance of another person, or a minimum, in front of a mirror. The baby never really looks all that comfortable (although once she is in, my baby never complains). Despite have the hip strap which is supposed to transfer the weight of the baby off the shoulders and to the hips (like a good back pack), this simply doesn't happen and you end up with sore shoulders and a sore back if you carry the baby for any length of time.
I recently borrowed my girlfriends Baby Bjorn and was amazed at the difference in ease of use and carrying comfort. I would not recommend this baby carrier.
Great Pack for Family Fun! by sunriseok ,Jan 13 '06
Pros: - nice storage pack for the necessities
- comfortable for long periods of time Cons: - the velcro straps around the baby's legs can rub
LOVE THIS PACK!! With my oldest son, I had a different pack and found it extremely awkward to use. It was difficult to get him in or out, and if he fell asleep, he was definitely in there until he awoke. With the Kelty pack, that I borrowed from a friend, I was able to easily get myself ready to go and then just snap him into place. Then if I wanted to lay him down for a nap when I returned home, it was so easy to gently unbuckle him and lay him down without completely disturbing him. I bought a pack for my second and third children and have been very satisfied. With 3 kids 4 years and under, the pack has been one of my best friends!!
