Pros: Nice fields, clean pool, some good classes. Cons: Run down facilities, dining hall serves unhealthy food, no certified nutritionist.
I went to Camp Shane as a YA (Young Adult), which was a big mistake. I certainly cannot speak for the younger children, but I attended camp mostly to learn about healthy eating habits and was not necessarily overweight. In retrospect, I should've ...

Pros: Lost weight Cons: Inadequate facilities, counselors, health care, nutrition, caring
My 10 year old son had a horrible stay at this camp, and it was a nightmare 3 weeks for his parents, too. We were originally pulled in by the slick website and marketing campaign for this place, which made us think that he would have a blast with all ...

Pros: Supportive and caring staff, and the knowledge to lead a healthier life Cons: The Camp doesn't run year round
Having never attended a camp before, I was apprehensive when first arriving at Camp Shane last summer. I had no idea when I walked through their gates for the very first time that I was embarking on the most amazing summer of my life. I was ...

Pros: A great camp experience, camper's self esteems raised Cons: It doesn't last long enough
As well as being a camper from 1995-2001, I joined the Camp Shane TEAM this past summer(04) as a general counselor for the SH's (16 year old girls). As you can already tell, I enjoy Camp Shane a great deal to have returned for so many summers. I ...

Pros: Your Self Esteem will go up major! Cons: Nothing at all
I worked at Camp Shane this summer as a counselor. Working at Camp Shane was by far the best decision I made in my life because I felt like a better person when I was done with camp. From the first day of camp a special feeling is in your heart that ...

Pros: weight loss, friendships, fun, encouraging staff Cons: being confined to the camp
The summer of 2007 was the first summer that I was a basketball instructor at Camp Shane. I am a nutrition major where I will eventually become a registered dietician. I feel as though this camp provides the campers with a variety of foods, which helps ...

Pros: they live up their word while being nurturing, kind, compassionate and understanding Cons: would have liked a little more support once they left the camp
My 11 year old daughter went to Camp Shane last summer for the first time. The whole family was a little bit apprehensive about the distance from Canada and the amount of money involved in going to a "weight loss camp" when you can certainly see a ...

Pros: the campers grow out of their shells, friendships last long after camp Cons: the food isn't that great
I was a counselor at Camp Shane during the summer of 2002. My campers were 11-12 years old. I had never been a counselor or a camper at any camp.
My first two weeks as a counselor, I honestly didn't like it. I loved my campers. They were...

Pros: Positive Reinforcement & Motivating
Weightloss guaranteed Cons: I missed my daughter LOL!
If it were not for my 13yr old daughter's last 2 summers @ Camp Shane she would not be the happy healthy child she is today. At Camp Shane she has learned the benefits of exercise and proper nutrition. The friends and staff have given her the support she ...

Pros: Everybody I met and everthing that happened Cons: Not getting a more even tan line ;)
Whenever I got online to read the reviews of Camp Shane I was really upset and didn’t understand why several people had made such terrible statements about their camp experience, because as one of the Nutritionist this summer Camp Shane was one of the ...

Pros: This camp is a no-brainer for anyone looking for a life-stle change . Cons: I can't think of one negative thing to say about this wonderful camp.
In 2007, I was becoming greatly concerned about my granddaughter's health due to her being so overweight. She was only 11 years old and weighed almost 190lbs. I knew I had to do something before diabetes, high blood pressure or other ailments associated ...

Pros: I love Camp Shane Cons: The session are very long
Camp Shane’s motto definitely stands. Camps a feeling not a place. I was a camper at Shane for 4 years and spent my first summer there as a counselor this past summer. Not a day goes by where I find my self-wishing I could be at camp year round. My ...
