Pros: A wonderful place for a child to grow. Cons: NONE
Summary: Our 15 and 13 year old loved their GRP experience. The camp setting is deep in the woods, surrounded by mountains, streams and waterfalls. The counselor to camper ratios are great. Our daughter did the base camp while our son did the Blue Ridge ... read more

Pros: Staff, Facilities, Food, Location, Property Cons: It is not year round, and I am too old to be a participant!
Summary: As an ex-teacher, a trained medic, and now a professional member of the camping world, I have nothing negative to say about the Green River Preserve. The staff, facilities, directors, and property are heads above anything else that I have experienced in ... read more

Pros: Staff not too cool for school. Location is striking. Facilities. I.T. solid. Director is passionate. Cons: More rigorous physical adventure? Would like to see journal writing.

Pros: Beautiful land Cons: Sons thought their counslors were drunk and/or stoned most nights. Very small food servings.
Summary: From the brochures and the tour, GRP looked to be the perfect place to send our children for the summer. It was the worst decision we ever made though. We met with the owner and he seemed to be very nice and well educated in the sciences and nature. ... read more

Pros: Good camp for bright, inquisitive, nature oriented kids Cons: No pool or lake, only a tiny fish pond
Summary: A parent/visitor perspective: Green River is a camp for academically gifted kids (not geniuses- just above average- IQ or achievement test scores are required). As North Carolinians, we know many kids who have attended this camp and loved it. They really ... read more

Pros: Scientific education is an integral part of the daily fun. Cons: This beautiful setting is so far away from home.
Summary: I believe that Green River Preserve is an excellent summer camp. I was the most surprised by the education of all the camp personnel. My 3 girls cannot wait to go again for the 3 time to enjoy the hiking, swimming, and most of all education
