New Otani Hotel & Garden

Pros: friendly staff, central to Little Tokyo
Cons: over priced and tight parking

Pros: Clean Rooms, Close to Little Tokyo, Friendly Staff.
Cons: Internet inconsistent, Long check in lines, hard to find elevators for garage, little parking.

I have stayed at this Hotel on two occasions. I really enjoyed myself both times. The rooms are clean and the staff is friendly. The rates are decent as well. They have a great Beer Garden. You can BBQ your own food. I would have like to seen more Japanese people working at the Hotel since it supposed to be a Japanese Hotel!

I stayed here in May 2004. I didn't do much in and around the hotel, but here is my .02 worth.

The hotel has a large lobby, and a small Starbucks stand (I don't think it's brewed on site - thermos kind). The room is nothing special, just a decent clean room. Parking is expensive, but I had a free parking with in/out privilege from the conference I was attending. The hotel is connected to a shopping center next door - Japanese flavored, as you might assume from the name. As this is in Little Tokyo, you could walk around and check out some Asian themed shops.

The nicest feature was the outside Japanese Garden which my room directly overlooked. It looked very nice and serene, but the streets were somewhat noisy - I never got to try it.

The staff was very helpful when my rental car ran out of battery (Fox Rental LA - beware of this company).
