Pros: Um, it has history... Cons: Filthy, needs repairs and maintenance!
There are times with my job that I need to stay overnight and have stayed in various hotels and motels. I’ve also vacationed in numerous places in conjunction with my daughter’s swim meets and my travels. Although I had been to Long Beach on many ...
Pros: Excellent for anyone wanting to explore & stay at a historic luxury ship. Cons: Dining moderate to high.
My family and I ventured off to the Long Beach Port to purchase tickets for transportation to Catalina Island. We had 2 1/2 hours to waste until our Catalina Express boat left. We decided to walk next door to the Queen Mary, an excellent choice...
Pros: Wonderful place to walk around. Great views. Terrific shopping. Cons: Thin walls. Tiny closets and bathrooms.
The last time I was on board the Queen Mary was for a bon voyage party. I must have been five or six years old. The Queen was making its final voyage and friends of the family were going to be going. I remember drinking Shirley Temples out of champagne ...
Pros: A treasure from the past. Absolutely fascinating to experience. Good value. Lots to do. Cons: May seem "run down" if you "don't get it" - Isn't supposed to be Hilton.
A couple of years ago, during a trip to Southern California, I was surprised to discover that the original RMS Queen Mary was now a hotel and museum ship in Long Beach. I can still remember being out on the pier at Seal Beach and asking my ...
Pros: Historical significance and fine dining opportunities Cons: Shoddy maintainance and unprofessional hotel staff
My husband and I just returned from an overnight stay on the beloved Queen Mary in Long Beach. We arrived late at night after our 15 hour journey on Amtrak's Coast Starlight from San Francisco. We had "sailed" into San Francisco the day before on the ...
Pros: Beautiful woodwork and a trip back in time Cons: dining on board too high end
I had the pleasure of spending a night in the Queen Mary Hotel this week. A friend and I were planning on doing the tour and staying in a local motel but when I looked into the rates on the ship we decided to stay there. I am so happy we did.

I have always wanted to see the Queen Mary which is "docked" in Long Beach California. I always loved reading about the history of the ship and of course the ghost stories. My husband and I were going to going on a real cruise that was leaving out of ...

After reading the reviews about this former ocean liner docked in Long Beach, I was hesitant about booking it. I am so glad that I did! I spent the night on the Queen Mary during a business trip to LA last November. I was flying out of Long Beach on ...
Pros: None that I found Cons: Just about the whole experience
I had the displeasure of having brunch aboard the Queen Mary 2 Sundays ago. I had been looking forward to it as a unique brunch experience that might provide some entertainment for my 2 kids (ages 9 and 12). Driving into the lot started out this horrible...
Amazing piece of history, hostage to worst hotel management in California by n_k0 ,Jun 11 '04
Pros: interesting ship with significant historical value, excellent views of ocean and LongBeach skyline; excellent restaurants Cons: grossly mismanaged; as if staff tries to spoil the experience
I stayed at the QM Hotel with my parents. My dad knew all about the ship and it could have easily been a great experience because the ship is a true piece of history.
However, starting with the first encounter at the reception desk, the magic is gone. They could not find my reservation which was already pre-paid (later found on the desk), then gave me the wrong type of room, then when they switched they switched to a room that was already given to someone else. So one more switch. As they were messing up again and again the staff seemed not to care and did not apologize.
There was no kind of heat. I really doubt that such a luxurious ship made its affluent guests tremble crossing the Atlantic. But the Long Beach nights are chilly on the water.
