Flying Magazine Educates and Informs Private Pilots

by Bryan_Carey, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 10, Oct 07 '09
Pros: Some good photos; News section is good
Cons: Limited appeal overall
Aviation is a topic that includes fans with widely ranging levels of interest. Some people are interested in aviation from a science/technology perspective. Some are interested in aviation as their means of transportation. Still others have an active ...

If you are going fly--read the best

by cneuhardt , Oct 16 '02
Pros: State of the Art of Flying in Print
Cons: Sport aviation/recreational pilots may seem left out
I have been a licensed pilot for 25 years. I have read every issue of flying since before I was licensed. Although I do not fly for pay, I find it is my duty to fly as professionally as possible. Flying has helped me do that.

Being a pilot...

Flying, Flying Not So High

by davidnicholus , Jan 18 '02
Pros: It's exorbitantly professionally inscribed. Flying encompasses everything an exuberant pilot could desiderate inside a magazine.
Cons: You must perpetuate a seven-digit paycheck to unfeignedly appreciate Flying and its supervacaneous advertisements.

Introduction

Flying, definitely not what most people would desire in a magazine. Flying is a magazine that is entirely targeted for millionaires that own a few jets here and there and probably flies them as a...

Another magazine for General Aviators

by prattguy , Apr 16 '00
Pros: variety, photography, article quality
Cons: grumpy-pilot pictures

Again, like "Private Pilot", they do have good interviews, articles, and...

Good magazine

by cjanson , Jun 29 '00
Pros: Well written, a lot of good information, excellent photography
Cons: A little bit advanced for low time pilots
I have to say, this is a good magazine. Flying, though, is an expensive hobby/profession and the planes reviewed in this magazine are all usually very expensive (not surprising really I guess) so geared more toward the monied set it seems. This with...

Good Magazine For Pilots and People Who Like Aviation

by swva_482 , Jan 09 '01
Pros: Has reviews of new aircraft.
Cons: The Magazine is not free.
I bought a subscription to this magazine, because of the ads of programs for people wanting to become pilots. Unlike other magazines Flying has informative and detailed reviews of new aircraft. This could be very handy to a person looking for an aircraft...

Flying-only for the rich?

by plotinus , Dec 12 '99
Pros: Good reviews, reliable information, good feature writing
Cons: snooty attitude, geared for millionaires and company pilots
Flying magazine seems to be changing it's focus. well over half the magazine now is geared for airline and corporate pilots. The flight reviews and advertising "the New Beech a great value at only THREE MILLION DOLLARS!" are not designed to...
