Pros: inexpensive subscription price, advertisements generally kept out of editorial content Cons: nothing you won't find with other photography magazines
A little more slick and glossy than other photography magazines, Photographic is a monthly magazine that provides photography news, products, and tips and techniques for intermediate photographers. Basics Photographic is ...
Pros: Covers latest equipment and film well. Cons: Tries to cover more than the pages can hold.
Every hobby that involves any hardware at all will always get at least as many enthusiasts obsessed with the gear than with the hobby itself. Photography is no different. I know those who claim to be photographers and can talk forever on the Scheimpflug...
Pros: Everything you ever wanted to know, and some stuff you didn't know existed. Cons: Too many ad's
I don't subscribe to any magazines via mail for the simple reason it gives me an excuse to get out and go to the book store and look around. One magazine I do buy every month though is Peterson's Photographic.
Pros: decent information for prospective purchases, easy to read format Cons: never, EVER, critical of any products, everything's great!
I was a former subscriber to this magazine back a few years ago, and recently picked up a copy that was sitting around in the newsroom (I'm a news photographer, click, click). I asked another photographer there where it came from, and she said a former...
I used to like Photographic about 10 years ago. At the time it was kind of an hybrid type of magazine. Kind of a mix of technique and product reviews. Now its has become more like Popular Photography which represents the gadget head mentality of the...
Pros: good company and product listings Cons: not good enough learning information for serious amateurs
If you are an aspiring amateur photographer, like me; and are searching for new camera equipment from many well known and competitive companies; (not only with good prices, but also top of the line products) then this is surely the magazine you'll want....
Pros: Cheap subscription price. Cons: Poor quality printed images, Don't find helpful articles on technique, no indepth review of items.
Ok, I've read the other reviews for this magazine and I do not agree with most of them. I find this magazine substandard in respects to cultivating interest in photography. Problem with the Magazine: Poor articles on photo editing, one of the ...
Pros: Cheap subscription Cons: Hard to tell editorial content from advertising
Okay, so yes, I have renewed my subscription to Photographic. I probably will next year too. The problem is, I'm not sure why. I think it must be the price. I got it free for the first year. Since then, it's been about $10-$11 a year to renew...
Pros: Very through and long Cons: A bit too many ads
I have just recently subscribed to Photographic magazine and I like it a lot. It's really long and it had a lot of information. It reviews almost everything from the simplest point-'n-shoots to multi-grand medium format cameras to film for every ISO....
Pros: Easy to understand, not to technical Cons: May be to light reading for a pro
I've been a subscriber to Photographic for about 3 years now. In that time I have gone from being an amateur photographer to almost the professional level. Even thought I prefer more "indepth" photo magazines like American Photo, Photo District...
Photographic Magazine has everything you're looking for... if what you're looking for is ads. Flip to any page and there they are, on the top bottom and sides, leaflets dropping out... and squished in there amongst the ads is the guts... the info. ...
Great tips for the digital shooter by spifarificus ,Jul 31 '05
Pros: Excellent source of inspiration and tips to improve your photographic skills Cons: None that I can find
This magazine came as part of a package I signed up for and it has been the most enjoyable photography magazine of the bunch. The things I like most about Photographic is all of the wonderful tips for digital shooters and the awesome photoshop how-to articles. I love to learn new things about photoshop and I have found the most information from this magazine compared to Shutter Bug, Outdoor photographer, and Popular Photography combined.
Photographic also has loads of shooting tips that can be applied to either film or digital with plenty of good quality examples and advice but minus huge wordy essays.
I would recommend this magazine to anyone with a serious interest in photography, especially digital photography.
