Pros: Weight-loss diets, fitness advice, workouts, health news, sturdy exercise posters/cards, motivational success stories, healthy recipes Cons: Repetitive, many exercises require gym machines, highlights many expensive clothes, products and spa vacations
Obesity rates in America continue to rise each year and have now reached epidemic proportions. The increase in obesity is causing an increase in debilitating, chronic diseases such as diabetes, joint & muscle ailments, and heart disease even in...
Pros: Has some interesting articles. Cons: Out of 214 pages, 107 were full page advertisements.
It is my honest opinion that no one should have to pay $3.99 U.S. or $4.99 Canadian for exactly half a magazine. I realize in this day and age we are governed by advertisers, but I hate to have it in my face all the time.
Pros: Some very good articles in a pretty package. Cons: It doesn't have its own niche.
Way back I wrote a review on Self Magazine and ended with these words, “Just realize that what you are reading in Self this month will be in Fitness next and was probably in Shape the month before.”
Pros: A good "general" magazine about health and fitness. Cons: Articles are kind of powder-puff content, but entertaining.
Too Many Ads! Whew! Now that I’ve stated my first impression of this (and many others) magazine, I feel better. And, I didn’t have to do any exercise to feel that way. Well, to get the blood pumping probably required some cardio-vascular...
Pros: Shape has helpful and informative articles ranging from cutting calories to new fitness programs. Cons: Target audience--"Hey everyone can enjoy a well written fitness magazine!"
SHAPE
Magazine review
What’s a man doing reading a women’s fitness magazine? Okay, let me explain, after reading a few of SHAPE magazines while riding the exercise bike at the gym I decided to rate this magazine. Despite a few odd...
Pros: great articles, perfect for those wanting to become healthier Cons: none that I can see
I had never even heard of Shape magazine up until about one year or so ago. I was surfing the 'net, looking for health and fitness web sites to get some tips on how to get in shape and on one of those web sites there was a wonderful deal where I...
I have been reading Shape magazine for many years and love
what it has to offer. I do believe if I was a major fitness
buff, Shape would not be a good magazine to help me achieve
my goals. But since I enjoy light exercise and keeping ...
Pros: Great info on health, fitness and nutrition for women Cons: Cover models sometimes don't look real, I'll never have a tummy like that.
When my mother in law asked me several years ago, which magazine I would like to get a subscription to, I immediately said "Shape Magazine". I was a casual reader of Shape Magazine for several years, picking it up at the grocery store or reading while...
Pros: good recipes, helpful target articles Cons: advertisements
SHAPE. Isn’t that what everyone strives for these days? To be in shape? To loose a few pounds here and there? Some people have set this mentality that being is shape is the answer to their every question in life. What is the deal with those people...
Pros: There is some truly good advice as well as some inspiring stories. Cons: It's becoming too 'fluffy.'
I'm not quite sure what happened to Shape in the last year. Maybe they got a new editor or new writers? I'm not sure. All I know is that a year ago, I would have highly recommended Shape as a good magazine for the 'intermediate' workout...
Pros: a few great features Cons: not much new info
I have been a subscriber of Shape for about 6 years now. I originally subscribed to Shape through the Publishers Clearing House sweepstakes (you know they say you don't have to order magazines to win, but I don't believe them!!) Anyway I got Shape...
Pros: Inexpensive, articles, photos Cons: It's only issued monthly
If you are looking for a magazine with information that will help you become a better "YOU", I recommend SHAPE magazine. I have subscribed to this magazine for two years. I first subscribed to it looking for a little motivation to help...
Pros: Many topics, Great success stories, many new exercises Cons: Some too-skinny models, some use of hard-to-find machines
In my best form I’ll go to the gym or go for a walk six out of seven days. In my worst form, I won’t get any exercise for two months. I’m not obsessed with my weight, but I try to stay fit and I like to eat healthy and take care of myself. Shape...
