A Delightful Mish-Mash of "the Stuff that Surrounds You"

by wannabe_writer , Nov 24 '00
Pros: fantastic writing, photography, layouts
Cons: cover price
I walked into the local Barnes & Noble to find my date nursing a hazelnut-flavored steamed milk. “Have you been waiting long?” I asked. He shook his head and pushed an open magazine across the table to me. The article of apparent interest was...

Wallpaper- the grass IS greener on the other side

by davegvg , Mar 02 '06
Pros: Beautiful people, place, and things
Cons: I don’t work at wallpaper
This is the magazine to get if you globally travel frequently on business, or if you just like looking at gorgeous expensive things. I vehemently disagree with some that say the tone of this magazine is that they are better than you, and that life is ...

Dare to Dream

by vanity , Nov 11 '99
Pros: so pretty! great photography, fresh ideas
Cons: impractical, heavy in your tote bag, inspires guilt
You never will be as glamorous, well decorated, up to the minute, de rigeur, well shod, scantily clad, lavishly appointed, luxe, groovlicious, stylishly bored, death defyingly thin, meticulously groomed, or as well lighted as anything you will see in...

Complete Dream World

by alek_toronto , Jun 08 '01
Pros: Great photography, cool, funny, tons of information
Cons: Very thick, doesn't travel well, short useful life
Wallpaper basically sells the idea that everyone's life will be SO much better if they own that $2000 pair of shoes or god ugly $5000 Italian sofa. At least you would think so at first glance.
The first time I saw the magazine I jumped to...

Pros: Brought an interest in good design to the masses
Cons: Lily white models
Wallpaper* is one of the most influential magazines to emerge in the past decade. Clean, modern, and decadent, the magazine set the tone for the dominant look of the last two years. From ads for Target to the Banana Republic catalog, its artistic style...

The best magazine on high design, travel and fashion

by ryanpsims , Nov 03 '99
Pros: Great coverage of every type of design
Cons: Not the cheapest and becoming filled with ads
Wallpaper is what surrounds us in our daily life. What an appropriate title for a magazine that takes on the world of architecture, design, fashion, food and travel. All with a very swiss, very norwegian, very clean aesthetic.

Some of the big...

You'll Love It If You Get It

by druzba , Jan 12 '00
Pros: art, wordage, wit, sass, and everything else but the price
Cons: per issue price will buy a year's worth of some other mags
My epinion title has two meanings because you'll love this magazine if you buy it but only if you "get" their style and content.

1. A marvel of graphic design and presentation, Wallpaper* is refreshing compared to other low-tier...

One word: Tasty

by mysticpizza , Nov 28 '01
Pros: You feel clean just reading it.
Cons: Depressing that you can't live like they can.
I first discovered this magazine back in 1998...about the time the 10th issue came out. I only knew of two places to buy it in Atlanta: Banana Republic, and for some odd reason, the A&P Supermarket!

Anyway, I stumbled upon it by accident at...

Wallpaper* - not your average magazine

by naturalhigh , Feb 22 '00
Pros: Interesting layouts, great photo spreads. Versatile.
Cons: slightly pricier than the normal magazine and hard to find.
Wallpaper*. Titles on products today are becoming more and more familiar because they were already names of everyday products, and this one is no exception. The difference is the content, and having boycotted magazines for almost a year...

Imported, Expensive, Catalog. But in a good way.

by bryanboyer , Nov 15 '99
Pros: Beautiful, nice paper, nice stuff
Cons: At times a bit obnoxious, self-involved
Wallpaper is a nice magazine when it comes right down to it. Printed on nice stock with large beautiful pictures, the magazine is attractive to look at to say the least.

But the content, the articles some might call them, are usually not so...

Cons: price, not everywhere to buy

by firpy , Jan 30 '01
Pros: More, more, more!
Cons: More eventually means less.

by gabby , Dec 04 '00
Pros: Gaudy, deliciously so; readable
Cons: A bit pricey, compared to its ilk
Oh how I love Wallpaper*.

A magazine that looks like it was designed by Jeff Koons and reads like Edward Said dropped acid and decided that colonialism may indeed be evil, damn, it gave us the ability to decorate really well.

Are We Sick of This Yet?

by spq , May 12 '00
Pros: Promotes All Things Swedish
Cons: You can't figure it out?
OK, I admit it. Eons ago, when this hefty bimonthly magazine first started making the rounds of all hip, stylish homes, I would place a fresh copy in prominence on my coffee table and even - yes, true - considered replacing my wardrobe with nothing but...

Visual overload

by protoguy , Apr 06 '00
Pros: page after page of art/design
Cons: subscription price
Wallpaper is one of those magazines so full of imagery and information, it's a visual overload for your brain. By the time you actually go cover to cover, the mag will be shredded and dog-eared from over-use. It is a thick mag as well. That many pages...

Glossy, Glamorous, Expensive
by thoca ,May 29 '06
Pros: Beautiful Photography
Cons: Cost (order direct wallpaper.com for best price.)
I fell in love with the photography in this magazine and found my self at borders searching out each issue as it was released.

The magazine is the ultimate in outstanding design and glossy travel. If you want to discuss the geopolitical climate in the far east don't bother looking here. But if you want to know where the new hot restaurant is in Dubai you have found your place. It's not likely that I'm going to be shopping for a pair of $2000 shoes or a alligator handbag any time soon but I still enjoy the accessibility of the authors of this magazine. My subscription is definitely a guilty pleasure.
