I Wanna Love and Treat you Right

by Bryan_Carey Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 10, Oct 06 '04
Pros: Some classic tunes here
Cons: A few mediocre songs in the bunch; Not many political messages
Reggae music has its share of talented musicians. Originating on the Caribbean island of Jamaica, reggae is known for its softer musical arrangements, varied percussion, and other musical sounds that make it the unique type of music that it is. The ...

Easy Summer Skanking

by nsign , Apr 18 '04
Pros: Glistening production, spirited and joyous recordings.
Cons: No political songs, if that's your thing.
So, summer is at last on the way. Long days of sun and balmy evenings, barbecues and lying on a lawn with a glass of your favourite tipple, t-shirts and shorts, and a stereo happily playing your favourite tunes. What you’re going to need is a summer ...

The Sun & The Rainfall

by silktempest Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Oct 09 '09
Pros: Towering first half
Cons: Less than decent second half
BOB MARLEY & THE WAILERS' Kaya, on surface, rides a relaxed groove and bears thematic similarity. But large portions of its content were harshly assembled from old tapes. Caught between MARLEY's 1977 assassination attempt by muggers, which ...

Got to have Kaya, now...

by benstarr , Nov 12 '03
Pros: Full of Bob's most sentimental music.
Cons: Lacking in the kind of political genius found on Survival.
Kaya, released in 1978, is Bob Marley's least political album; practically the polar opposite of his 1979 release, Survival. Fans who I've talked to tend to either love Kaya, and consider it one of their favorites, or really can't sta ...

Smooth Jamaican Grooves

by redsox75 , May 20 '00
Pros: Smooth rhythms, several good tracks
Cons: A couple duds
A mellow offering by the reggae master Bob Marley, this great record will please again and again. Released in 1978, it shows a much softer side of Bob than 1974’s Natty Dread. The love songs seem sweeter and the
protest songs not quite as...

Kaya - oldie but goodie

by mikolaj , Dec 02 '99
Pros: classic Bob Marley from the old days
Cons: bad quality at times
Bob Marley is not a reggae artist - he IS reggae. Kaya is one of his older albums, and many people fail to listen to it, and other classics. This one is equally good as many of his later albums, although nothing can compare to hits like "No woman no...

sun is shining
by jacfu ,Nov 30 '04
Pros: uplifting
Cons: too short
This was the first Marley record I bought. The track "sun is shining" kept on playing in my head, and soon afterwards the rest of the songs followed suit.
These are a collection of love songs, inspired by what many believe to be marijuana. But that's not really important. This album is about love and acceptance.Really great!
