Pros: Intelligent lyrics, muisc is mature and intense at the same time. Cons: A couple of the songs lack a little luster.
Summary: Master of Puppets was the first speed/thrash metal album I heard. I was about 12 years old and as far as rock and metal went, I hadn't listened to anything heavier or faster than AC/DC and Van Halen. One day my buddy and I were walking around ...

Pros: James Hetfield's best vocals, No filler songs, Brilliant lyrics, Outstanding musicianship. Cons: Not the revolutionary step forward that "Ride the Lightning" was.
Summary: While I do personally think that Metallica's previous 2 studio albums "Kill Em All" and "Ride the Lightning" were better albums, I won't deny that "Master of Puppets" is a classic album and deserving of the praise it gets. I rank it as my 3rd favorite ...

Pros: Needs no introduction. Classic metal songs that are more evolved melodically than previous efforts. Cons: One or two weak tracks, not as universal as some fans may think.
Summary: I'm going to start by saying that Master of Puppets is NOT my favorite Metallica album, nor do I think of it as the pinnacle point of thrash metal. I know this album means a great deal to many metal fans, and that it is a great album, but I would like to ...

Pros: Metallica at their finest. Cons: The last album with Cliff Burton.
Summary: “Master of Puppets”, words that divide the metal community, to some it’s a landmark achievement, to others it’s the point at which it all went horribly wrong. This is plainly evident if you read any review of this album. But how does a single album ...

Pros: The most complete album of any genre of music ever. The ultimate metal masterpiece! Cons: What are you kidding?
Summary: In the opinion of many, "Master of Puppets" sets the standard for metal albums; a work of art that supersedes the sound of every metal compilation ever created. Well, my opinion is no different than the rest. So if you're looking for a review that bashes ...

Pros: One of the Greatest Heavy Metal albums. Period Cons: Cliff's last album.
Summary: By the mid 80s Metallica were on a mission. That mission was to become the biggest metal band in the world on their own terms and without compromise. No exceptions. Well... flash forward 20 years later and Metallica have become somewhat of a joke band. A ...

Summary: Being a newly converted fan who has been discovering metal history, encompassing many sub-genres, for about 1 and a half years, I have enjoyed comparing many albums to the generally purported 'Greatest HeavyMetal Album ever', THE MASTER OF PUPPETS. This ...

Pros: The Ultimate thrash album. Every track is great. Best Metallica releases. Cons: Only eight tracks.
Summary: I was about 14 when I got this album. It was my first introduction into metal. When I first heard songs like "Master" and "The Thing that Sould not be" it was amazing. After I got this tape I ditched my "Stryper tapes". I flipped on the cassete and ...

Pros: A couple inspiring moments... Cons: Major holes in the CD as a whole
Summary: In these next few critical blogs, which I'm going to call the 'lead-up to 100th reviews', I'll be examining a couple of albums that have been victims of massive hype placed on them since the time when they stormed the world and see whether they're ...
