Pros: An awesome album from a sonic standpoint. The Police were a great-playing band. Cons: None major...this was as good as it got for Sumner, Summers, and Copeland, Inc.
How does a little kid from Brooklyn get into The Police? Easy. For me, the answer was a young man by the name of Andrew, who lived down the block from me when I was a wee lad. My folks, generally, gravitated towards disco and R&B, with the occasional ...

Pros: Sting wrote several great songs after the first leg of The Police's 1980 world tour Cons: What if they'd had more time in the studio before the tour's next leg?
**1980 was the year that The Police became worldwide superstars. Embarking on an unprecedented tour of nineteen different countries, including first ever visits to India and Egypt by a touring Western rock band, the band packed up their curious ...

Pros: Front half of the album; it is the Police. Cons: Terribly uneven.
Ever have an album you want to be enchanted with—or at least more excited about—and yet something holds you back? Exhibit A: Zenyatta Mondatta by The Police (I thought I smelled bacon . . .) The Police possessed a sound all their own: ...

Pros: 11 catchy, consistent, strong songs. The Police at their best. Cons: Well, 10 songs, as "Behind My Camel" lags.
The Police was a group who were immediately positioned for stardom. Bassist/head songwriter Sting (Gordon Sumner), drummer Stewart Copeland, and guitarist Andy Summers had at best limited success with their previous endeavors. The Police proved to be...

Pros: Again, The Police let their imagination and knack for melodies thrive Cons: I don't find this as compelling as their previous work.
(Disclaimer: Those looking for a brief description of the album will find what their looking for in the "Review Body" section. The section titled "Track Reviews" is meant only for those who want to read detailed descriptions of the songs, and ...

Pros: Musicianship; more world-conscious lyrics; roughness gives the album character; highly replayable Cons: "Bombs Away" is a bit awkward, but otherwise NO Cons.
During their relatively brief time as a band, The Police produced five studio albums-- Zenyatta Mondatta was the third of those five albums. Being the "middle" album, Zenyatta Mondatta represented a major transition point in the ...

Pros: Consistently great from start to finish Cons: Sting puts in a sloppy literary reference to show us how well read he is
The Police have been one of my favorite bands for a long, long time. All of their albums -- even the sometimes difficult Ghost
in the Machine -- is absolutely great. Out of all of them, though, ...

Pros: Two classic singles, strong tunes, and as always great playing from The Police Cons: Three throw-away songs. Not enough to destroy this album, though.
After two acclaimed albums and mucho credibility, what is a band supposed to do? Release a great pop album to hook the masses, that's what. The Police were riding high on the success of their second album Reggatta De Blanc in late 1979/early 1980. The rec ...

Pros: the start of the album Cons: the end of the album
I consider The Police to be one of the most unique and gifted bands to emerge in the last quarter-century. I want to make that clear. That's why this album was a disappointment- I have high expectations from these guys. If "Zenyatta Mondatta" were...

Pros: It has no flaws at all (I have my reasons for this). Cons: Well…it is a 'flawless' album.
Lets see
.. It was in October 1979 that The Police released Reggatta de Blanc. In the strength of hits like Message In A Bottle and Walking On The Moon, they reinforced their position as stars at Europe. But they ...

Pros: n/a Cons: n.a
In December of 1980, The Police released a single from their third album. This single became the 2nd single to reach the US top 10 in the short history of their band. De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da is hereby given the award Fastest Pop Do Da Hit Single for a...

Pros: Some all-time classics, and the whole thing is fun. Cons: The instrumentals slow things down.
The late-period Police have a cool sound worked out, with short, burbling basslines, echoey riffs, and really complex drumming. Very smart, I'll admit, but they abuse it, sometimes locking onto a simple groove and using it as an excuse for a whole song....
