Singles Soundtrack Asks: Where Were You in 1992?

by lambchops, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 50, Jan 24 '05
Pros: Original songs from tons of great bands
Cons: ...
The years 1990 through 1992 were banner years in the world of rock n' roll. Now considered the peak of the "grunge" era, it yielded albums from massively popular acts Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains and Soundgarden in addition to somewhat less known but ...

One Singular Sensation

by PacManY2J PacManY2J is a Top Reviewer on Epinions in Music, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Dec 08 '08
Pros: Each and every song
Cons: Some might feel it's incomplete without Nirvana (I think it's just fine).
Like a musical time capsule, the soundtrack to Cameron Crowe's 1992 movie Singles takes us back to a specific era.  That era just happens to be one of the greatest periods in rock history, the early '90s explosion of rock bands from Seattle. ...

F*ck Saturday Night Fever: This Is the Greatest Soundtrack Ever

by MattA75 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 50, Jan 16 '03
Pros: nearly every influential 90s band on one disc
Cons: none, and I mean that
In the world of movie soundtracks, there have been some unbelievable hits. Grease is considered classic for it's near perfect pop hooks. But it was Saturday Night Fever that ultimately got referred to as the "ultimate" in soundtracks, an...

The soundtrack for my 20's

by Zen425 , Apr 08 '01
Pros: Great music for whatever mood you're in
Cons: It makes me miss my college days
You don't have to be from Seattle to like this CD. Hell, you don't even have to like grunge music.

"Singles Soundtrack" came out in 1992, when I was at the peak of my college years. I think of it as an anthem for Generation X, and a perfect...

not as grungy as expected

by huskerdu99 , Sep 25 '00
Pros: surprisingly diverse yet faithful to Seattle theme
Cons: "Drown"
Slightly better than the movie that spawned it, this is a pretty sharp collection that doesn't get bogged with the g-word. (I mean grunge in this case, not Gen X. Ah, Gen X, where are you now? How I prefer your slacking to the Maxim-reading dotcom...

The ultimate alternative sampler album

by RockguyKev , Aug 31 '00
Pros: This is real ROCK!
Cons: 2 wasted tunes
Who would have ever thought a soundtrack would end up being the best summary of an entire musical movement? This soundtrack does just that for the Seattle rock/grunge/alternative movement. It features songs by Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden,...

An underrated collection of music for the 90's generation

by slimwill , Jan 29 '03
Pros: A wonderful collection of early 90's music. Traces the beginnings of grunge and alternative music
Cons: NONE
This, in my opinion, is the greatest album of the 90's. it contains a wonderful collection of early 90's music. Several artists were not well known at the release of this album, but it now stands as a who's who of early alternative music. Pearl Jam,...

One of the best movie soundtracks ever put together

by Greg_Kool , Apr 17 '00
Pros: Great album of some excellent songs from bands before they made it big
Cons: Ends on a low note with unnecessarily long feedback solo to an otherwise good Smashing Pumpkin song
I picked up the this soundtrack because I was picking out my free CD's from BMG and just couldn't find anything to be my sixth free selection. I liked Alice in Chains song "Would?" and knew it was on the album so I gave it a shot.
