Pros: Naveed, Julia, and Denied are first-rate hits. Cons: Growing pains are evident now and again.
Canadian alt-rockers Our Lady Peace took the music world by storm with their smash-hit debut album Naveed in 1994. Part of their success stems from the simple fact that there just isn't any other band like them. Much of that is a result of their ...

Pros: guitar guitar guitar Cons: not long enough, want more!
Naveed is the first and best rock album by the band Our Lady Peace. It's produced and co-written with Arnold Lanni who is like another member of the band. It features the former bass player. It has eleven tracks of pure rock and doesn't get too fancy...

Pros: Every song good, voice amazing, varied. Cons: How many times can you listen to one cd in a day?
I had never heard OLP when I bought this album but thought that I would take a risk. It was something that I will never regret. Naveed is one of the very best albums in my collection. Every song on there is amazing. They effortlessly pull of a...

Pros: great music Cons: not long enough
Our Lady Peace’s freshman album, Naveed, is one of my favorite cd’s out of all the cd’s I have. Our Lady Peace, as many of the hardcore fans know, are not very big here in the U.S. but are huge in Canada which is where they originate from. As I’ve...

Pros: Consistently strong songs Cons: Album cover/art is lackluster
With Billy Corgan-esque vocals and a pounding drum sound from Jeramy Taggart, these boys from Toronto set themselves apart from less talented countrymen Barenakedladies with their 1996 debut “Naveed”. Lead singer Raine Maida along with bandmates Turner,...

Pros: Great music to enjoy! Cons: N/A
Our Lady Peace has just recently gained their new found fame. Yet their first still seems to shine bright in my collection as one of the best. Their only single from the Star seed seemed to flutter on the charts for awhile....then slowly whither away....

Pros: Great sound all the way through Cons: Some songs not too memorable - but still good!
Hearing the song "Supersatellite" back in the eighth grade made me realize my love for the music my mother had been trying to hide me from. Two years later, I was finally able to go out, find the album and buy it.
It's the best...

Pros: Beautiful blend of hard rock and meaningful lyrics. Cons: none
Our Lady Peace has just recently gained their new found fame. Yet their first cd, "Naveed" still seems to shine bright in my cd collection as one of the best. OLP's only single from the cd, "Starseed", seemed to flutter on the...

Pros: absolutely unbelievable quality of music, great lyrics Cons: Most underrated band in rock music
Back when i was in Grade 8, OLP was one of my favourite bands. I owned every single one of their CD's except Naveed, their debut. i saw the CD on sale when i was looking through the mall for a friends birthday present, i decided to get it for him, even...

Better than their later albums
by innerman ,Sep 03 '06
Pros: Excellent songs! Album looks like promising! Cons: I wished their later albums sound more "alt rock" like this one.
OLP's album "Clumsy" and onwards are less good albums than their first one "Naveed". The self-titled track is one of the greatest alternative songs I've heard from the early 90's. Mike's guitar play is so great on all the album and Raine's voice is fiting in the style completely.
Other great songs from the same album like Starseed, Hope, SuperSatellite, The birdman, and some others demonstrates the quality they could do for alternative rock in that time. For me, even Nirvana cant beat that. The lyrics are sci-fi, realistic, and diversified (without pretention).
Raine's voice in this album shows more emotion than any other OLP album. "Hope" is a good example. Jeremy's drumming is great too. And I always wonder why they replaced their bass player after Naveed? I think finding other members for the band unbalanced the magic they created with this opening album. The sound wasnt the same when Clumsy arrived in January 1997.

Don't let new Our Lady peace fool you
by critic420 ,Nov 28 '03
Pros: Everything Cons: Nothing
I bought this CD in 1995 when I didn't buy many CD's. Probably one of the best modern rock CD's released in the 90's. Turner's guitar work leads solid hard rockin songs from back when it was still about the music for OLP. The Birdman, Hope, Starseed, and Naveed are all great songs and the others are solid but i'm a bit biased because i liked those main tracks so much. If i didn't still have this CD from '95 i'd buy it now. Do not let the new music of OLP fool you, Naveed is a heavy TOP-QUALITY rock album.
