Pros: Some really good lyrics in here. Cons: Too many songs sound just like too many other songs.
Normally, I despise music of the Look At What a Horrible Life I've Led variety. Cant listen to Korn, Disturbed, Poppa Roach, or Staind for these very reasons. Like Denis Leary said so well, Life sucks, get a f**kin helmet. That ...

Pros: Five-star songs. Cons: Trash.
For those who have been following my life story, it took an unexpected twist when I elected to pay my mother a surprise permanent visit. This, of course, required that I drive for 16 hours with what I thought were shot front rotors (now I'm not sure ...

Pros: One or two songs, Some of the lyrics Cons: Music Does Not Sound Like Everclear, Too "punky"
It seems Everclear can't cut a break from me these days. In my recent review for "Songs From An American Movie, Vol. 1 - Learning How To Smile," (available at h

Pros: Some good songwriting, music is well played. Cons: Some weak songs.
For a short time in 1996, it seemed as if Everclear were going to be heirs to the throne of Nirvana. ...

Pros: Great rock guitar sound, first album with Greg Eklund on drums, first great everclear album Cons: A couple tracks don't really fit my musical taste.
This is the second Everclear album, released in 1995, and is the first to have Greg Eklund on the drums, along with Craig Montoya on Bass and Art Alexakis on Guitar and Vocals. Greg is on most of the tracks and is definitely a welcome addition to the...

Pros: catchy tunes, real-life emotions Cons: none
"Santa Monica" was one of many catchy "alternative" tunes that was all over the radio, back in the good old days when rock still ruled the airwaves in the mid-90s. Several times, I mentioned Everclear to a person who didn't know the...

Pros: some great songs, some great musical ideas Cons: not a complete record by any stretch of the imagination
Everclear emerged in 1995 on the strength of the ubitquotous single Santa Monica. Based on the high quality of that one song, I decided to give this album a shot. I heard a lot of talent in that song, and I was certain the band was not a one hit...

Pros: Not a dull song present. Cons: How many times con you listen to one cd in a day?
I feel this album is closer to being perfect than anything i have ever heard. The only reason I won't say it is perfect because who am I to judge? I may be a little less than objective when i say this because it all comes down to taste but this is a cd...

Pros: Mainly great Cons: A few weak links
Just before I start, I’d like to point out that when I say ‘spiky guitars’ I mean it in terms of the sound, not the look – i.e. BC Rich. I’m sure all the guitarists out there would agree with me, that would just be silly. Now back to your regularly...

Pros: Alexakis' storytelling is at it's best on this record. Pure emotion. Cons: Some songs are uncreative and boring.
O.K. There were other grunge albums after this, some were good, some were bad. But this was probably one of the last really good bands to emerge from the Seattle explosion. Along with Bush and Silverchair, they were the last mainstream grunge act, and...

Pros: Great power trio and some great lyrics. A heartfelt alt-rock album Cons: A few (few) tracks are definite bonks.
I am not a huge Art Alexakis fan, but I have to say that this album hits home. Unlike his more recent effort, "So Much for the Afterglow" which often comes off as a sanctimonious lecture, "Sparkle and Fade" is a heartfelt record of...

Pros: Great lyrics, Various sounds, emotionally charged, makes you feel good Cons: none
This is the second album Everclear released, and their best. With a wide variety of sounds unique to Everclear along with Art Alexakis' emotionally charged and serious lyrics, this album is a piece of art.
The album starts off with a few...

Pros: You'll love this depressing album, it's definitely one of the best. Cons: Nothing against this album at all
Sparkle and Fade is Everclear's second album. This album became popular for it's hit song Santa Monica. Although, it is also the other thirteen songs on this album that made it one of the best album from Everclear. The artist Art Alexakis composes the...

Pros: Consistently good "happy punk" music Cons: Short songs, depressing lyrics
One night I went to bed with "Santa Monica" in my head. I liked it enough that I thought about picking up the album, but I didn't know the name of the band at the time. The next morning I woke up and turned on the TV. The "Santa...

Pros: Great, singable rock songs. Pop-punk. The only good Everclear album. Cons: I think the lyrics are quite ... inconsistent.
I'm not a huge Everclear fan, but this is a really good CD. Sadly, none of their other work even comes close to this quality. I feel like this is their most "genuine" work, and because of that, it really shines.
Also, this album came out in...
