The Car [Single] by Jeff Carson

Pros: Good for classic car and 1990s country music enthusiasts
Cons: Subject of song could cause some people to be depressed

I first heard this song in 1995 when it first came out, and I saw the tearjerker video soon afterward on TNN (now SpikeTV). This song is about a young man who lost his mother too soon and has to deal with a workaholic father, and while he and his father were on a car ride together, the young man sees an old, beat-up Ford Mustang by the side of the road and decides that he wants to rebuild it. Of course, his father did not have the time or money to rebuild an old car (just look at the Mustang in the video, it's in horrible condition!), and eventually the Mustang was forgotten until the young man's father died some time afterward, and after he opened up the note that contained the will, he found the keys to the Mustang.
I associate this song with a 1978 Dodge Magnum that I looked at but never got the chance to restore. Despite being a tearjerker, this is a great song.
