A solid sophomore effort

by thebigstick , Jul 30 '03
Pros: Provocative, intense album
Cons: Has trouble competing with Rage's first release
Rage Against The Machine is one of those bands that blew everyone away with their first release. No ...

Pretty awful compared to their self-titled.

by karlmarxzapata , Dec 21 '04
Pros: Rage returns with some decent songs.
Cons: The new sound adopted sounds like crap.
I'm a staunch Rage Against the Machine fan, but this album kinda sucks compared to the self-titled and "Battle of LA." My main gripe with "Evil Empire" is Zach's voice, Zach sounded great in the self-titled, but in this album, the tone of his voice went ...

If you only get one of their albums...

by angelic_tears , Jun 26 '00
Pros: Great music and message.
Cons: Some might not get the message.
This is, in my opinion, the best of Rage's albums. It was with this album that they rocketed to the top of the chart, selling millions of copies. It was this album that finally earned them the recognition that they deserved. It was with this album that...

Something that cynical teens and social reformists enjoy

by KubrickFan , Jun 30 '00
Pros: Proves to the world that Limp Bizkit isn't the limit of intelligence that metal-alternative rock must succomb to.
Cons: It wasn't delivered in the mail to all suburban areas of America.
Somewhere between "Rage Against the Machine" and "Battle Of Los Angeles" lies this album, the second volume of music from those guitar strummmin, bass slappin, mic blasting, drum pounding revolutionaries. You can really tell RATM...

Rage On

by Brato , Mar 24 '00
Pros: Everything
Cons: I think not
This is the second album that Rage Against The Machine put forth to the general public. In its style of Rap-Rock, hard core beat, and awesome political lyrics, it is definitely in style with RATM's first album. The Evil Empire album definitely got much...

BEST CD EVER

by jlenofan , Nov 09 '02
Pros: great funky rock beats
Cons: i wish it was longer
I have been a Rage Against The Machine fan for a long time. Out of the 4 recorded albums they have released, this one is the best. Their first album, the self-titled one, was also a great album. What makes Evil Empire better is how their sound is...

The Best Work of RATM

by timjohnson , Oct 01 '01
Pros: RATM's classic blend of rock and rap.
Cons: Not as strong of a message as previous CD (Self Titled)
This CD starts out strong with the dogmatic 'People of the Sun' which is arguably the best track. It continues with the great songs 'Vietnow', 'Bulls on Parade', and my personal favorite 'Revolver'. Those first four songs are so fantastic that it took...

This is one of the best albums of the rap metal genre

by drwrinkles , Jul 19 '01
Pros: Powerful, meaningful, just an all out great album
Cons: Some songs sound a little bit a like, little else to complain about though
CdUniverse said "This long-awaited sophomore release from Rage Against The Machine does not disappoint. Its grinding, ferocious guitar twists Public Enemy-like riffs in and out of the rhythm section's metallic pummeling. But as usual, while Tom Morello's...

Rage do it again...

by kingseamus , Dec 20 '01
Pros: Some amazing songs
Cons: Not particularly consistent
After Rage Against the Machine's much praised eponymous release, came Evil Empire. I have got bored of this album, when I first got it I didn't think it was great... But I still found myself muttering the odd line I'd heard off it. I went back and...

The Best Rage CD

by ragekid , Sep 10 '00
Pros: Everything about it
Cons: A bit too much profanity for the younger listener, but not as bad as lots of other bands.
This CD is the best Rage Against the Machine CD in my opinion. It has a lot of different sounding songs. The hit song Bulls on Parade is a song that you can listen to over and over again with out getting old. Good songs include People of the Sun,...

Makes you want to mash, rap, rebel, and think all at once
by solorebellion ,Dec 05 '05
Pros: Unique, energetic, inspiring, well made.
Cons: One track isn't that good. But that's standard for any band.
Zack de la Rocha is the best vocalist of any rock band, ever. He has the style of a rapper, the lyrics of a revolutionary, and the voice of, well, Zack. Tom Morello is the most unique guitarist of our time. Brad Wilk has the beats of a hip-hop group. Tim Commerford integrates the bass flawlessly.

This is the most unique band of their day. This album is the peak of their career, as are Self Titled and The Battle of Los Angeles.

rage against the ATM machine
by ihatemuslims ,Nov 20 '03
Pros: tight instrumentation , guitar , drums, bass all come together.
Cons: Britney Spears writes harder albums than this
just because you are marxists or whatever these guys are,it doesn't mean you shouldn't be able to write a decent album. These guys tear apart the government and this country's abuse of the poor all the while they rake in the mad cash. It's kinda like Pavarotti singing about how you should lose weight because you look a little chubby.
I am so glad these guys broke up so that i never have to listen to another watered down version of their decent self-titled debut. This album has no teeth , they stray from hard edge into pop, mainstream is afterall where the real money is. If you don't own any Rage , then just buy their first , all others afterward are a disappointment.
