Pros: Three good songs... Cons: Ten bad songs and some really awful lyrics...
Better Than Ezra’s musical relevance is easily arguable. Their sound isn’t unique, but they can occasionally slap together a great song or three (as evidenced on their debut Deluxe). I wouldn’t call their music original, creatively interesting, or even ...

Pros: A harder sound than Deluxe, Kevin's still a great singer! Cons: The track arrangement sometimes lessens the "oomph" of certain songs when they start.
Lucky for many of us, Better Than Ezra decided to stick it out after the initial success of Deluxe, and deliver us another CD jam packed with great tunes. As a whole, Friction, Baby...

Pros: Quality music, good start on something big Cons: Not interesting... sounds very dehydrated
Better Than Ezra released a couple of well-received albums in the nineties, and "Friction, Baby" appeared in 1996. It seems to be abstract, cleaned-up rock sessions, nothing glaringly fascinating, full of coffee house poetry and amped guitar...

Pros: More diverse than "Deluxe". Great songs like "King of New Orleans" and "Desperately Wanting" Cons: None
On "Friction, Baby", the New Orleans trio, Better Than Ezra, continues and improves on the pop/rock formula strengths of their previous effort, "Deluxe" (another fine disc -- see my epinion at http://marcman.epinions.com/content_14387154564 for more...

Pros: great work on the first 7 Cons: uninspired last 4 songs
This was one of my earlier CD purchases. Back in the day when Better Than Ezra got some radio play with the song "Desperately Wanting" I began to take notice of this band that I knew nothing of ("Good" was on the radio before I...

Pros: You can get three good songs Cons: You'll be stuck with the rest of it
I like to think I'm not a music snob. I will freely admit to liking certain songs from the catalouges of Matchbox 20, Tonic, and even Third Eye Blind. I try not to dismiss stuff just because it doesn't break any new ground.
But for me to...

Pros: Just listen, you'll hear the pros at work! Cons: Some songs are arranged "different"
Yes, they have proven again that good bands will stand the test of time. This album is heart pounding, gut wrenching full of wonderful lyrics and great music to go along with it all. Desperately Wanting......what more can be said..........Don't kick...

Pros: great sound, different from before, yet maintains classic Ezra sound. Cons: None.
Friction Baby is an influential CD that help define what alternative music is today. It helped bring us out of the Nirvana transition (not to degrade Nirvana's genius at all).
Memorable songs from this album : King Of New Orleans...
