Pros: The versions of Hey Jupiter and Honey are impressive... Cons: The Merry Widow version of Professional Widow is painful...
When I think of Tori Amos, I think her two most distinctive attributes--her haunting voice and her fire-engine red hair. Over the course of the last decade, Amos has become one of the most mysterious and wonderful not to mention independently minded ...
After the debacle that was ”Strange Little Girls”, I had to step away from the music of Tori Amos and take a break – I was completely disappointed and sad for this artist who I loved and who I felt had made a serious mistake with SLG. Now,...
Pros: Beautiful songs, interesting version of previous songs, nice cover of a classic Cons: Freaky and scary new version of Professional Widow.
Today I decided to expand my Tori Amos collection just a little more and picked up the Hey Jupiter EP to hear some songs I haven't had the priviledge to hear yet. The one thing I love about Tori Amos's singles is that they always include new version of...
Pros: New music and sounds, Tori's "Chats" at start of songs. Cons: Some parts of Professional Widow, Background music in Hey Jupiter.
This is a really good CD. It's very diverse, different, and is both fun, angry, happy and sad - at different times which are appropriate. I really enjoy the diversity and difference, and as always, the powerful, magical singing.
Pros: Amazing remix of a beautiful song, as well as more exposure for some classic Tori Cons: This version of Professional Widow might hurt your ears!
This epinion has been moved. I originally posted on 12/8/00 under "Tori Amos" because this EP wasn't listed. It is now, so I'm putting it in its proper place and revising it. (Which has also coincided nicely with the series I'm doing on Tori...
Bittersweet Epicurian Delights from Tori by biohazzard9 ,Jun 12 '06
Pros: Great new versions of songs, and a great performance of "Somewhere over the Rainbow." Cons: May be habit forming. Have chocolate handy.
This is one of my favorite EP's from Tori -- It's certainly the one I listen to most often.
The Dakota version of "Hey Jupiter" is absolutely incredible, with a new bridge which brings the whole song together wonderfully.
The live version of "Sugar" is terrific, and distinctly different from the original. It's a bit angrier, and has additional lyrics.
The merry widow version of "Professional Widow" is a must have for fans of variations-on-a-theme. It's performed more as a dirge than a heavy-metalesque rant. Very moving.
Honestly, I got the EP for the Tori version of "Somewhere over the Rainbow." The song speaks for itself, and Tori performs it as only she can.
This is an especially good CD if you've recently lost a relationship. It has a very cathartic effect.
