Pros: 15 brilliant tracks will keep you banging your head for over two hours. Cons: The only bad thing about this album is when it is over.
Summary: As usual, Tool delivers an unequaled sound experience. Melodic riffs blended with mind shattering vocals make this album one of their best ever. Tool will blow your mind away with every sound they make. 46&2 has an explosive bass line. Push it ... read more

Pros: Aenima is the greatest rock record of the 90s. Cons: NONE
Summary: Mick Jagger. Sting. Bono. Maynard James Keenan. Some songwriters/performers are just capable of getting under your skin. They write and then sing about something like it's important and all of a sudden it starts to seem important to you. That ... read more

Pros: Philosophy, spirituality, humor, anger, power chords, and crazy time changes- all playing nicely together. Cons: Everything they've done since this album seems to pale in comparison.
Summary: For this review, Ill try something different. Instead of putting the album title in bold throughout, Ill italicize it and make the song titles nice and black. Hey, lifes a long experiment, is it not? Thank you for playing. ... read more

Pros: Captivating, dark, progressive... Maynard James Keenan's voice is something you'll have to hear to believe Cons: Those looking for catchy songs about sunshine won't find it here
Summary: Truth be told, many rock fans these days want music they can instantly get into and instantly understand -- music that doesn't have to be thought-provoking or unique, just as long as it's got a catchy chorus to sing along to. And whatever floats their ... read more

Pros: This is Aenima. Cons: squat
Summary: Although it may be impossible to say that any one album is the best album ever released, this is about as close as you can get. I've was only recently introduced to this album and Tool at the beginning of this year (Feb 2005), and ever since then I've ... read more

Pros: Some of Tool's best work Cons: Lots of Interludes, May Offend
Summary: Tool is an art rock/prog rock/rock band that has put out 3 LPs thus far. There is Undertow (already reviewed by me), Aenima (your reading the review), and Lateralus. They also have an EP called Opiate. I personally feel Aenima is the bands best record. ... read more

Pros: Calling it a thought provoking and cerebral masterpiece doesn't do it justice. Cons: You can't have sex with sound waves.
Summary: When I look at my album playlist, Aenima doesn't just pop out, it grabs me by the neck and drags me in with it. The album title's wordplay speaks volumes for it, melting Carl Jung's theory of the soul's existence and purpose (Anima) across ... read more

Pros: The song meanings, Maynard's beautiful and chilling voice, the best rhythm section in rock today. Cons: NONE!
Summary: Tool started out in 1992 with their EP. Opiate which turned a lot of heads. Excellent musicianship fronted by the best voice in rock today, Maynard James Keenan. It was very early 90's metal but Tool did it to perfection. The follow up full length ... read more

Pros: The fact that it's perfect. Cons: Cons? Yeah right...
Summary: Where the hell to begin? Every so often the world is blessed with a band that charges the undercurrent of music with an innovative approach to everything. It doesn't happen often, but when it does it's bliss. Tool is such a band. Their first album, ... read more

Pros: It's just plain awesome Cons: Not for everyone's taste
Summary: There's a few albums out there that are so impossibly complicated, vast and nebulous in their machinations, and just so god-awful deep that trying to even figure out how the hell to review them is a task bound and determined to drive you completely crazy. ... read more

Pros: Thoughtful, original, heavy rock Cons: A couple weaker interludes
Summary: It took me a while to get into Tool and even longer to review them. I guess I was just always at a loss for words on how to describe such a complicated band. But it's now 2003, and it's high time I challenged myself to express my thoughts on this band. I ... read more

Pros: TOOL sounds as if your ears lack the potential to soak it all in. Cons: Who said anything about cons?

Pros: A cohesive, organic, intelligent album with musical and lyrical depth Cons: It's dark as hell, challenging, and not readily accessible
Summary: The world, in all honesty, is full of good rock bands. It doesn't take much of a search to find decent music that will get your feet tapping or get a few of its vocal hooks stuck in your head for weeks on end. What's in true scarcity is the rock artist ... read more

Pros: Mellow metal at it's best, with perfect peaks and valleys. Cons: Just that crackly Ions song kind of gets irritating.
Summary: I have had the pleasure to own Tool's best album, Aenima, for several years now, and I fall in love with it over and over. With awesome instrumental highs and lows and Maynard's one of a kind voice, this is the CD I would take to the proverbial deserted ... read more

Pros: Once again music at it's finest Cons: it ends at some point

Pros: Very dense.
Skillful Cons: Some of the filler(interludes)
Summary: Tool is a band that defies normal description. Unlike the slews of bands that focus on personal relationships and issues in utterly simplistic ways, Tool actually writes with depth. Aenima is a prime example of this depth.

Pros: An absolute masterpiece. Cons: Too much filler.
Summary: Wow. That's all I have to say about this album, and that's all there pretty much is to say, but I'm not making money--err, getting positive feedback by writing that much, so I'm obligated by my mission to take over the Epinions music section, to write ... read more

Pros: Absolutely beautiful and insane Cons: Lots of little noisy interludes that you just skip past (like buzzing noises).
Summary: Before you begin reading this you need to understand that Tool is not your typical rock band. The singer, Maynard, has a message he's trying to give his fans. Maynard gets it. By "it" I mean, he pretty much has a firm grasp on where we humans stand in ... read more
