Econoline Crush Puts A New Spin on Industrial/Rock Music

by lambchops, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 50, Jun 26 '02
Pros: Great songs, programming, guitars
Cons: At times reuse of earlier successful formulas
Heavy industrial beats and post-grunge sensibility mark Econoline Crush, hailing from Vancouver BC, as a force to be reckoned with.

I suppose the closest sonic match in America would be Stabbing Westward or even punk/metal...

drowning in my own self interest

by anvrill , Apr 15 '03
Pros: Strong album by a strong band, produced by a woman.
Cons: Alas, the last strong effort from them...
Yep, kiddies, my Canadian kick continues. These things always come in three, didn't you know?

I figured I'd have to go through the three bands I got onto hardcore in the 9th grade (it took me until now to fully appreciate Matt Good, and my...

Econoline Crush goes radio friendly!

by Carmanah , Jul 18 '01
Pros: Ambitious, melodic, thrashing, haunting...
Cons: Econoline Crush are heading towards radio-friendly music
Chances are, you've probably never heard of Econoline Crush... unless you're from Canada. If you're Canadian, you're probably familiar with Econoline Crush's "The Devil You Know" (TDYK) because it was constantly being played on TV and on the radio. But...

The Devil you want to hear...

by pomf , Mar 09 '01
Pros: Excellent blend of heavy riffs, vocals, and electronic effects.
Cons: None really
I remember the first time I heard Econoline Crush. It was in my friends car on the way to a Nine Inch Nails concert. He had been working at the college radio station as a DJ. On the way to the show, he decided to have me listen to something new and tell...

Econoline Crush: The Devil You Know

by NinaNee , Nov 24 '99
Pros: great songs, great guitar
Cons: it's pretty heavy, drum machine?
Econoline Crush are a hard rock / industrialish type of band. You might be able to catch a video of them on Much Music quite regularly however if you live in the United States like myself, your only chance to catch them on the radio (if not already in...

Affliction: an Econoline Crush cd review

by bizkit_gurl , Jan 04 '00
Pros: All the way from beginning to end, the cd seems to have a story behind it. the entire cd is like one huge story.
Cons: hmm..well I love this cd but some Econoline Crush fans might not be used to the heaviness of it, since TDYK is a bit more on the poppy side
I can't help but recall the first day I heard Econoline Crush. It was when I saw them open up for Tonic, and their whole stage presence just blew me away. Soon I became a fan, and now I am probably one of their biggest to date.
Their first major...

Surefire Hit

by IndyJones , Oct 08 '00
Pros: Catchy techno-rock style music
Cons: Can get old
I have to admit, I was a little apprehensive about buying this album at first. The only song I'd ever heard by Econoline Crush was "Surefire", which one of my local radio stations played about once a week. "Surefire" is a fast,...

Music to Strip by

by ConservGirl , May 28 '00
Pros: Guitar solos and Vocals
Cons: none
This album is one of the best I own. I must say, Econoline Crush is not that well known of a band, but by all means they should be. I could listen to this CD every day for the rest of my life and never get sick of it. I personally didn't buy this CD,...

The Devil's Gem

by Thresh , Jul 12 '01
Pros: The entire album is well crafted, well thought out, and beautiful.
Cons: No one really knows about Econoline Crush, aaah this was too short.
The first time I heard of this band was when this album was just about to be released and their single "home" was in heavy rotation on a local video station. Well needless to say it stuck in my head and I had the hardest time finding the cd. (Christmas...
