Pros: Nine spectacular tunes. Cons: Three average ones.
Every now and then, a song comes on the radio that you've just GOT to have. The New Radicals' "You Get What You Give" was one such song, and the first song that I can remember looking up on the internet (yeah I didn't get it 'til May '98, I ...

Pros: Great start. Combines a great production with a strong performance. Cons: They broke up one month after releasing the second single, what else can I say?
Ladies and gentlemen, you are reading a review about one of the most infamous One Hit Wonders of the 90’s: the New Radicals.
VERY brief history of the New Radicals
Gregg Alexander, an unknown guy born in Grosse...

Pros: Every song a great one. Definetely one of the most interesting releases of the 1990's. Cons: Some songs weaker than others. Also it's their first and only release.
Jerry Seinfeld once said that one of the most important things to know as a comedian is when to leave the stage. Overstaying your welcome for even thirty seconds can change an audience's entire impression of your act. So maybe it's a good thing the New ...

Pros: A few wildly infectious tracks featuring stellar production and solid delivery. Cons: The album has it's fair share of filler tracks; Alexander's vocals are occasionally sub-par.
The tale of the one hit wonder is a common one: a performer releases a single that becomes a huge hit, but is unable to release a follow-up that obtains the same public acceptance. Hundreds of one hit wonders have come and gone since rock & roll music...

Pros: Good catchy pop tunes. Cons: A little too derivative. Angst ridden lyrics are wasted on me.
I ran into a problem when it came time for me to review this CD. I found myself having to listen over and over again, until I finally found the inspiration to write about it. Then it hit me. All this time, I've been reviewing either CD's that I loved, or...

Pros: good production, a few great tunes, inspirational at times Cons: some weak lyrics, too much filler
"Maybe You've Been Brainwashed Too" is a neat little album that appeared seemingly out of nowhere during the last hurrah of the grunge era of the late 1990's. (Amazing kiddies, ain't it? Nirvana is nostalgic already!)
Fueled...

Pros: beautiful melodies and point of view Cons: much adult language
I'd like to thank Joni Mitchell for saving my sanity.
On recent afternoons while driving home, a local radio station was playing the most infectious pop tune I've heard in years, but then they wouldn't give the artist's name. The song has a...

Pros: Upbeat tunes, thoughtful lyrics Cons: Sometimes a little whiny
The New Radicals debut CD, "Maybe You've Been Brainwashed Too," is a premium blend of European techno and good ol' American rock. The feel-good music is ideal for private listening or parties. Without too much thought, the listener can enjoy...

Pros: everything Cons: when he makes fun of hanson =o(
I am so gad that I got this CD. I got it for Christmas last year. At first I have to admit that I didn't like it much, but after I listened to it a few times it started to sound good. Now I love it! I love Greg Alexander's voice. It has something...

Pros: Some of the prettiest melodies you will hear on a 90's rock album. Cons: Bizarrely out-of-control production.
A curious record. The New Radicals are simply Gregg Alexander, who, like most rappers, decided that an in-your-face pseudonym would put him across better than his real name. Whatever. He's another guy in the Ben Folds mold: insanely talented, but...

Pros: 'you get what you give' is a good song to drive around to Cons: it's another one of those 'this would have made a great maxi-single' albums
when i had a job i would set my alarm for six, because i knew i would stay in bed for about 75 minutes hitting snooze every nine minutes or so. this strategy resulted in some dreams with great soundtracks -- imagine a subconscious haze backed by the cure...

Pros: Refreshingly optimistic sound Cons: They no longer exist
In the fall of 1998 you probably heard "You Get What You Give" on the radio. The happy optimistic sound drew me in. I later heard an equally chipper "Mamma We Just Can't Get Enough" and figured this album would pass my Three Song...

Pros: People can relate to the songs Cons: Multiple drug references
I initially bought this album because of the song You Get What You Give, but as I listened to the entire album I loved it even more. This album has songs with lyrics that just about everyone can relate to and beats that will have you tapping your foot...

Pros: Great music, great lyrics. Cons: They've already disbanded.
Yes yes, we've all heard "You get what you give", the pop song that infected everybody's ears for a short period of time in '99. But don't let that trick you! The New Radicals are NOT one-hit wonders. The rest of the album, is just as good,...
