Pros: hardcore and aggressive beats , very clever lyrics Cons: too much profanity , goes too much into depth with personal issues
This album is one of the best rap albums that I've heard so far this year and let me tell you, at first I didn't like Eminem or his music now Im starting to really get into his music and style. In his songs he sounds very aggressive and angry, this album...

Pros: none what-so-ever Cons: that it ever came out in the first place
Im from the Detroit area. I was rolling around when Kid Rock was playing local shows. Back when ICP was getting started in the burb's, saying they were from the ghetto. It was a big joke, everyone knew they weren't, and they didn't try pretending like it...

Pros: excellent lyrics, great CD Cons: needs a few more songs
I bought this album because I had previewed it on CDNow.com and liked the samples of what I heard of the songs on the CD. I love this CD because Eminem tells it how it is in life and how people feel and doesn't care about it at all. I am one who...

Pros: True Emotion, About as original as rap gets. Cons: Same as Slim Shady LP, Pointless.
The Marshall Mathers LP features pretty much the same Hatred-driven rap that we experienced on Eminem's Slim Shady LP. Some of the songs area actually a reflection of whats happened to eminem since his declared celebrity status. But Why is the question....

Pros: Really cool lyrics, good beat, good to wake up to Cons: A lot of bad words
Eminems most recent CD is really cool. True, there are a lot of bad words, but the whole of it is really good. There is one song called Kim. It about Marshal killing his wife, some people say it's really freaky and weird. I think it's pretty cool. I...

Pros: Self-written, very energetic. Cons: Parental advisory.
This album is by far the best one of my collection. The people who don't like it need to get with the times. Eminem has a sense of humor, a great skill at coming up with things off the top of his head and......get this...... ohmigod, PUTS IT TO USE!!!!...

Five Stars
by kieran_w ,Dec 06 '04
Pros: Songwriting. Well produced by Dr. Dre, well performed by the greatest living rapper. Iconic. Cons: The fact that mediocre talents like Vanilla Ice, The ICP get a mention at all.
This isn't rap music, or rock music, or hip hop music. This is angst ridden, urban poetry about a man who can't quite place why he is so ticked off so he blames everyone. Eminem's graphic violence and cartoon humour creates something almost real. Marshall Mathers has a great social conscience that he chooses to utilise in his lyrics. More than being an album Marshall Mathers to be is a satire on modern American society. Eminem isn't a cliche gansta rapper in the mold of NWA, Snoop Dogg or Ja Rule. He is a radical songwriter and to be is closer to Kurt Cobain, Bob Dylan and Jim Morrison. With this album Eminem chose to ridicule anything anyone holds dear. Great Satire.
