Pros: 18 songs! Fleetwood Mac have done a good job hanging on to their sound. Cons: Christine McVie's absence is a loss. Towards the end, several songs sound similar.
Fleetwood Mac never really had that "one" song that jumped out at me. However, they are one of the few bands for which I can say there is no one song of theirs that I just don't like. Better to have a string of #3 or #10 hits across a few decades than...
Pros: It's still Fleetwood Mac, A couple of great songs, Showcases band's many talents Cons: Lacks the artistic balance of Christine Mc Vie's talent, Not much variety
I must say, I was really looking forward to Fleetwood Mac's first studio release since 1987's mediocre Tango In The Night. Those fans of the group who are looking for the lush pop melodies of the 1970's-'80's will be sadly disappointed....
Pros: Some good vocals, Some decent lyrics, Sounds good overall. Cons: Nothing extraordinary or truly new for the band.
When one has an extensive body of work, the way Fleetwood Mac does, it becomes difficult to create something that is so new and different that fans sit up and say "wow!" Fleetwood Mac, as my monthlong exploration of their work has pretty well proven to ...
So I've been waiting for this album for six years. I wish I could be more excited about it. Fleetwood Mac has released Say You Will and it is not all that it should be.
Christine McVie is gone. She was an essential part of this band,...
Pros: Very good effort from Buckingham, Very good effort from Nicks, Good variety Cons: Annoying pop-up when using Autorun, Absence of Christine McVie
Fleetwood Mac has a special place in my heart. They were the first band I ever considered to be my favorite. Even though my musical tastes have changed a bit, I still listen to the Mac from time to time. So, I was thrilled when I began to hear rumors ...
Pros: Lots of variety and generally good songs. Cons: The production lends everything a monotonous sheen.
Sixteen years after the release of the last proper Fleetwood Mac record, 2003 saw departed duo Lindsey Buckingham (who left in 1987) and Stevie Nicks (1990) return to the group following the success of live reunion album The Dance. As ...
Pros: Buckingham and Nicks deliver some great songs. Cons: Too many songs. Where's Christine McVie. Heck, where're John and Mick?
In 1997, the classic line-up of Fleetwood Mac (Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie) reunited for a tour and a live album ("The Dance"). They sounded great together; and the presence of new songs on the live...
Pros: This CD is amazing! Die-hard Mac fan or not, you won't be disappointed. Cons: I have to say there are one or two tracks that don't thrill me.
This CD is amazing! Die-hard Mac fan or not, you won't be disappointed. What can I say, I just LOVE this CD!! The lyrics are both thought-provoking and exciting to listen to. The melodies very Mac-ish with some new, fresh twists. This is my...
Fleetwood Mac: Take # 28 by tracergrrl ,Jul 19 '04
Pros: Fleetwood Mac is still around. Cons: Christine's missing.
Noting the number of songs on this album, I was reminded of Tusk. But listening to the album removed that comparison. Tusk was an album in which the triumvirate songwriting team of Stevie, Lindsey and Christine made for an excellent mix. Say You Will seems to be the sequel to the Buckingham/Nicks album.
Granted, there are those who believe that Fleetwood Mac is British for Buckingham/Nicks, but Christine was a vital part of the post-Peter Green line up and I wish she'd come back. She is credited as a performer on the album, but I miss her songwriting contributions.
If you listen to no other songs on the album, give these a go:
-What's the World Coming To
-Murrow Turning Over in His Grave (note the guitar solo)
-Miranda
-Smile At You (Stevie's voice is the strongest I've ever heard it.)
-Say Goodbye
Overall, it's a okay effort. Out of 18 songs, the only ones I listen to on a regular basis are noted above. If you aren't a hardcore Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks/Lindsey Buckingham fan, I'd suggest borrowing the CD first and give it a listen before buying a copy of your own.
With Say You Will, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honoree Fleetwood Mac returns with its first all-original album featuring both Stevie Nicks and Lindsey ...More at Buy.com Marketplaces
