Pros: It gets better with more listens; lyrics. Cons: Little release.
Please disregard the text of this review. My views on music have changed in recent months. I wouldn't be lying to say that I originally wasn't too big a fan of Death Cab for Cutie's Transatlanticism. I thought that lead singer Ben ...
Pros: All of it, every last song. Cons: None at all
Sometimes there are albums that come along and blow you away. Transatlanticism did that to me. So basically don’t expect me to be objective. When it comes to this album, I just can’t be. But maybe you know what I mean, with some ...
Pros: Lyrics are pretty clever, good for your emo and/or sleepy moments. Cons: God, Ben, cheer up already!
Ahh, sweet emo: the genre completely dominated by overly whiny vocals and heartbroken lyrics. Okay, maybe not so sweet when you think about it. But these days, this type of music rules seemingly every teenager in America. Since this holds true, the same ...
Pros: Well-written, good the first couple times Cons: Over the top emotion, very pessimistic, too complacent, whiny vocals, gets old quickly
Death Cab For Cutie's Transatlanticism is like a new friend: at first, their honesty and raw emotion may seem refreshing, but after hanging around them for awhile, it sounds more and more like incessant whining and you try to avoid them at all ...
Pros: Great new sound, good tracks Cons: only ONE track that is lacking
Emo faves, Death Cab For Cutie has pretty much gone under the radar unnoticed building up a fan base that has grown with each CD they have released. Transatlanticism shows Seattle rockers expanding into a rather more pop appraoch evident in more ...
Pros: Great writing, music. Title track stands as the best track. Cons: Weak second half
As an indie rock fan, I should be required to atleast check out Death Cab For Cutie. After hearing about how good they are, I asked for suggestions on what albums I should get. However, every album suggested didn't click with me. Yes, even "The Photo A ...
Pros: Serene musical atmosphere, Eloquent lyrics, Benjamin Gibbard's vocals are right on. Cons: If you are looking for heavy rock, you came to the wrong place.
Benjamin Gibbard- vocals, guitar, lyrics Nicholas Harmer- bass Jason McGerr- drums Christopher Walla- guitar Released: October 7, 2003 Beginning as a side-project band, presumably to keep away from boredom, ...
Pros: Everything. Cons: Nothing. Well maybe the album title is hard to type and say.
Capsule Review I know a great record when it takes its time to really hit me the right way at the right moment. It took a few times for this album to really sing to me in its simplicity. Oddly enough, I catch up to a lot of record listening ...
Transatlanticism takes you through the ins and outs of relationships by sing4u1202 ,Mar 22 '05
Pros: lyrics. vocals. song order. melodies. everything. Cons: nada
Is there a song on here that I couldn't listen to over and over again? ... I don't think so. If anything, this album leaves me completely content. It takes the listener through the ins and outs of a relationship - from love to doubts to breakups to rebounds - this album covers it all. It's an album that anyone who has been through a relationship can identify with - the lyrics really hit home. To add to it, the songs seem to mesh and fit so perfectly together.
I really can't find any complaints about this CD. It's simply good listening. When I listen to it I feel like I am experiencing what is happening in each song - they really bring you into the music. And the lyrics...I'm in love with them.
"I wish the world was flat like the old days/ so I could travel just by folding the map/ no more airplanes or speed trains or freeways/ there'd be no distance that could hold us back"
