Pros: Fantastic guitars, vocals, and songs... Cons: Maybe a bit too samey, but it mostly works...
Try as I might I cannot imagine Axl Rose in place of Scott Weiland or the DeLeos and Eric Kretz stepping in for Slash, Duff, Matt Sorum, and Dave Kushner. This speaks volumes for the gritty and hard rocking Velvet Revolver. They are the real deal; an ...
Pros: No-nonsense, bluesy, hard rock Cons: Could use a bit more variation in some parts
When Rage Against the Machine and Soundgarden fell victim to breakup, it turned out not to be the end. Members of the two groups decided that rather than fade into obscurity, they would unite to form Audioslave. That foursome has proven to be not just ...
Pros: Energetic, wonderful rock music Cons: Many songs sound similar, but how bad could that possibly be? Couple of "skippables" too...
While I'm not going to pretend that I'm a complete expert on Guns 'N' Roses or Stone Temple Pilots, it's safe to say that most rock fans hold a respect for both of the bands. So, to make a long story much shorter -- what happens ...
Pros: hard rock as it should be Cons: a couple songs seem like filler
When I was in high school, I was pretty obsessed with rock music. I tended to have a strong affection for hard rock and heavy metal. I can still remember the excitement of bringing home a new record and playing it for the first time. There were ...
Pros: Energy and skill from an extremely impressive lineup Cons: Just a few bland tracks
It's always hard to know what to think when the idea of a supergroup gets ballied about. The phrase "Past performance may not reflect future results" always comes naggingly to mind. Doubly so when the idea for Velvet Revolver was first floated about. ...
Pros: It rocks. No more squealing. Cons: If you don't like hard rock, there's nothing here to change your mind.
Well, that's half the reason I bought it. The cover is really cool and comes in THREE colors: black, red, and white! Whoa! It took me like 10 minutes to figure out which color to get. I picked black. Good for me. The other reason I bought it is the ...
Pros: This "supergroup" really exceeded my expectations. Cons: A couple of the songs seem to be filler, but overall, a great album
My wife and I have eagerly been awaiting this CD for months upon months, although we doubted it would ever be released because of lead singer Scott Weiland's drug and legal problems. Our son's middle name came from Scott, so you know that we're big fans ...
Pros: A lot of top-notch rockers. Cons: A few bottom-notch ballads.
LEADER. Hello, everyone, and welcome to the Creepy "Revolver" Addicts' Place. ALI. You've got a way with acronyms. LEADER. What? ALI. Never mind. LEADER. ...Kay. Anyway, the topic of today's meeting is Velvet Revolver's debut album, ...
Pros: Unique hard rock, VR is a runaway train of explosives. Cons: None, I love everything about this album
Velvet Revolver is the meeting up of some ex 80's rock stalwarts Guns 'N' Roses members and the vocalist for 90's grunge phenoms Stone Temple Pilots. So what happens when you take 2 different cast offs from 2 different era's of music and team them up? ...
Pros: Every song is entertaining, never gets boring. Cons: Mostly for rock lovers
First, I am going to introduce you into some insight of Velvet Revolver that is vital to understanding and appreciating the music. This band is a creative mixture of different broken up bands. The guitar player, Slash, is the legendary ex-guitarist ...
The best of GNR and STP makes Revolver by cborowski ,Jul 16 '04
Pros: best blend of 2 bands' sound and vocal Cons: Typical weak track or 2 that sounds like the others
The album has combined the best of both bands to create an excellent album. You can hear the classic GNR sounds thanks to slash's guitar mastery and Weiland's voice is a perfect fit for this hard rock classic.
Pros: Great chemistry....Scott Wieland w/ Slash... Cons: you become impatient waiting for the next album
80's rock fans rejoice !! just don't bring out your blow driers and white tights please!! Velvet revolver brings back what i like to call real traditional rock and roll . Not alternative , not trying to be unique sounding , just straight forward hard rock , distortion and drums. Great vocals , thanks to Scott weiland who can sing like a soprano and can also tune to a low growl when called for .Also thanks to slash and duff for the great melodies. My favourite songs being "sucker train blues" , "do it for the kids" , "you got no right"(ballad) , and " slither". Basically thanks to Velvet revolver for getting together and bringing back some real rock .
Pros: Nice mix of hard rockin', punk'ish and even ballad'esque songs. Cons: None to speak of
Velvet Revolver....when I first heard it was coming I had to ponder the possibilities. The only thing I could think was that if this band could stay out of rehab and prison they will certainly be the next big thing.
I put the cd in my car stereo and it didn't come out for weeks! I could hear the strengths of Guns N Roses and feel the power of STP immediately but, with each song the band was developing it's own personality. After hearing the first single I decided that I was going to try to pick each song that would make the radio as a single. That really isn't all that hard since nearly all of the tracks are chart worthy.
Highly recommended if you liked GNR but don't really like Axl. Also, if you liked STP of course. For anyone who likes it hard and with attitude.
This band will keep the the hard rock world alive! This release will be considered a classic in years to come.
Pros: Sick guitar solos, sharp vocals. Cons: Not enough guitar
Being a Guns'N'Roses fan I was waiting for this album, well, it was worth the wait, with Axel Rose being replace by STP lead singer Scott Wieland, and guitar being played by Slash, this album out does itself.
My eyes lite up when I first put the CD in my car's cd-player, WOW this is vintage GNR, without Axel. The sharpness in voice and guitar is perfect and nothing outdoes itself, perfect blends of guitar and voice makes this a easy buy for any guitar fan, GNR fan, hard rock fan!
As one of my favorite artists, Scott Weiland is back and better than ever with Velvet Revolver. Great songs off this CD are Fall to Pieces, Dirty Little Thing, Loving the Alien, and Slither. This band is a great combination of the former STP and GNR.
Band members are SCOTT WEILAND of Stone Temple Pilots, SLASH of Guns N Roses, DUFF of Guns N Roses, MATT SORUM of Guns N Roses and The Cult, DAVE KUSH...More at Buy.com Marketplaces
