Pros: Some very good songs, some sharp collabos. Cons: Inconsistent rapping, inconsistent production, overpowering anti-college sentiment, too many skits.
When I first heard that Rocafella producer Kanye West would be making his own solo album, I was totally against it. Hip-Hop has seen more than its fair share of producers who turn producer/marginal emcee once they realize that most mainstream rap ...
Pros: Good beats, some great songs. Cons: Some bad songs, Kanye's sloppy rhyming, filler, skits, some immature subject matter.
I remember back one day several years ago my friends and I were out skateboarding (something that I don’t do too often anymore) and we got onto the subject of rap music. One of my friends who generally hated rap, mentioned how awesome this ...
Pros: Creative, Kanye's beats, some good guests, Energy Cons: Too Long, Too many skits, a few lazy songs
KANYE WEST: THE MAN Kanye West...His skill as a producer is unquestioned, his beats top-of-the-line and unique, his record company growing. But, as we see in College Dropout , Kanye's not quite happy yet. He wants to rap. And in all ...
Pros: Kanye West and everybody else Cons: See Pros
Here he is: the overworked Chi-town producer who has reversed high-pitched samples; breeding them with string assortments and the legendary happily tuned piano that has Kanyes signature all over it. His tactics arent hard to find; turn on a ...
Pros: Plenty of cuts where Kanye's lyrical wit/depth and production match nicely Cons: Somewhat dull start, album could use more cohesion
Alright, first things first -- sorry for the lame-*ss byline. Onto part 2 and the conclusion of my backwards series, at least until kah-razy Kanye decides to drop Graduation. That makes sense for me at least, since I heard Late ...
Pros: Great production, thought-provoking lyrics, something different on the airwaves, "Jesus Walks". Cons: TOO MANY SKITS, too anti-college, Kanye can always improve his MC-ing skills.
When I turn on the radio or watch MTV, I see the unnecessary bombardment of mediocre rappers, R&B crooners, and people whose only words in their vocabulary are "Yeah, Yeah!", "What?!", and "Okay!". Yes people, Rap/Hip-Hop has hit rock bottom with songs ...
Pros: Guest rappers, Production, Continuation of themes, Mix of serious and playful songs Cons: Some of West's opinions, guests do better than West
(Sorry about the corny title) Kanye West for the last few years as explained by the song “Last Call” has been an incredibly popular R&B/Hip hop producer for Alicia Keys, John Legend and pretty much all of his label's rappers at Roc-A-Fella. In 2004, ...
"The College Dropout" was the 2004 debut album from the producer-turned-rapper Kanye West. As Kanye started off as a producer for all the big names in Hip Hop such as T.I., Nas and Jay-Z, providing his unique chipmunk sound (where he uses a soul sample ...
Pros: Awesome beats, vocals, lyrics and so many other incredible artists. Cons: A few skits, and I wish he released his original College Dropout songs.
I bought this CD the morning it came out. I have been following Kanye West for a while and was eager for him to release this CD. I had heard the original College Dropout CD with Lauren Hill and many other artists and knew that it was going to be an ...
Pros: various beats and rhythms that make each song its own unique story. Cons: Lyrics are sometimes of a negative sort and swearing is something that occurs.
The reason I purchased this product was because of my passion for music. West's creative style of music is a type that I enjoy. The lyrics at times are a bit dirty at times and the overall message of the song isn't necessarily a positive one. I would recommend this CD for someone who is above that age of 16 and has a mature attitude. For a comeback CD I believe that this is West at his best and should be an enjoyable product for all of those who enjoy his music.
Pros: impressive lyrics, good beats, soulful and intelligent Cons: too many songs made it big from this cd, it ruins the magic.
This is probably my favorite cd. when i first got it, i became a hermit for 2 months while i indulged myself in kanye's blissful gift. some songs kinda don't flow well on the cd, and there's a lot of skits but overall, after listening you will understand why he was nominated for 10 grammy's for this. it is the perfect combination of rap and hip-hop.
Pros: Nice lyrics
Nice topics of rapping Cons: rapping isn't very smooth...
Even though Kanye West's rapping isn't very smooth, the lyrics are what makes his music special. No nasty stuff like sex and violence. It's all basically family-like. you don't feel cold when you listen to it. Songs such as Jesus Walks and Family Buisness are great to listen to. And while people criticize the number of skits, i personally think that the sarcasm in school spirit skit 1, 2, and the lil jimmy skit, make it pretty humorous. overall, about half of the album is decent. other half, not QUITE worth your time.
Kanye West, the Chi-town producer/rapper who s crafted hits for Alicia Keys, Ludacris, Jay-Z, and Twista, centers his disc on a familiar rags-to-riche...More at Buy.com
