Pros: Diana's voice and piano playing on a number of gorgeous songs. Cons: None
For several years, I've enjoyed the singing and playing of Diana Krall. She can both sing beautifully and play piano with a skill honed from years of practice and influence from the greats. And yet, many of the jazz critics have labeled her work "jazz ...
Pros: Some very fine cuts. Cons: But a few of them miss the mark.
A co-worker some time ago got me interested in the music of Diana Krall, and I've disvoered that I enjoy this blend of piano jazz and sultry vocals. It's music that be best described as 'lounge music,' music to be indulged in over a cocktail or two, and ...
Pros: Well crafted combination of haunting ballads and contemporary jazz oriented tunes, Sparsely produced Cons: Jazz purists may be disappointed with this effort, Lacks the spontaneity of live performances
Diana Krall has built her career on stylish arrangements of old jazz and pop standards. Her newest release, The Girl In The Other Room, is a bit of a departure from her previous recordings in that it contains not one single re- arranged ...
Pros: Krall's voice, piano skills; positive relaxing mood set by songs Cons: enhanced CD adds no value to album.
I first learned of Diana Krall when her album When I Look In Your Eyes was widely publicized due to the number of award nominations it received. Since hearing that record, I have been a big fan of Diana Krall. This release,"The Girl In The ...

Krall, I blasted her for singing only the songs written by others. Blasted is probably a harsh word, maybe chide is more appropriate. Well look at what we have here, Kralls latest ...
Pros: Wonderfully moody. Enchanting artistry. Cons: Not easily accessible to non-jazz listeners.
Smooth Jazz for Grown ups: Ten years before there was Norah Jones, Canadian Diana Krall showed that an acoustically oriented jazz musician could sell out auditoriums across the world night after night. She also showed that original jazz built around ...
Pros: 12 excellent tracks, most notably the Krall originals. Cons: Some will cry fowl because of the lack of "standards" on this CD.
With her masterful piano playing and strong vocals, Diana Krall has become one of the few from the Jazz genre to consistently release platinum selling albums. While being hailed as a strong Jazz stylist, some have complained that Diana has never ...
Pros: It's Diana Krall who is seemingly incapable of a bad performance. Cons: Different, but not the high mark everyone is making it out to be.
(I wrote this to someone on epinions, but my comments provide a different perspective than other reviews I've read so I included them here too.) I'm a huge Diana Krall fan and own all of her albums including Girl In The Other Room. My favorite ...
Pros: Superb singing and playing. Great tunes. Cons: Boring second half. Too safe by far.
Diana Krall has made her name singing late-night, smooth jazz classics. Since marrying Elvis Costello shes wanted to write her own material. So of course she gets Costello to co-write parts of this record. Shes still a honey-voiced chanteuse ...
A room? She should get out more. by squeezle-ii ,Jun 09 '04
Pros: Temptation should replace Peggy Lees' fever as the sultry jazz track of the age. Cons: Nothing else here comes within spitting distance of being interesting.
She may have been releasing records for 11 years, but Diana Krall really came to the public attention in 2004, with the release of the first single from this album 'Temptation'. A smooth jazz track that retains its' originality whilst slapping you in the face as a modern version of Peggy Lees' 'Fever'.
Not hurt by the sudden resurgence of interest in cool jazz sounds of the fifties, her name has led, at least in Britain, a small clique of similar minded artists (Michael Buble, Jamie Cullum and Joss Stone) as THE name to drop in musical circles.
It's a pity then, that such an iconoclastic sound as that first single is drowned inside an album offering nothing else more than stale repeats of long dead songs, (albeit some newly written).
Co-writing credits on many songs with Elvis Costello not only fails to raise this from the mire, unfortunately it brings Costello down with it.
The Girl in the Other Room is the first album by acclaimed artist Diana Krall to feature her original compositions. The record, Krall s eighth, includ...More at Buy.com Marketplaces
