Pros: heavy and melodic, there's something for every metal fan Cons: "Wasted Sacrifice" needed better verses
Westfield, Massachussetts, a small town in the western part of the state, is a nice place, but isn't known for much, although it has produced two fairly well known musical acts. The first was '90s lo-fi indie rockers Sebadoh. Westfield's latest major ...
Pros: Fusion of intensity with solid melodies; a few untouchable breakout tracks Cons: Occasional soft spots as the album progresses
If you've ever heard a band and said "These guys would be really solid, if only...", then you know the quandary of a Killswitch Engage listener in the past. While the band has always mixed in melody with its purebred heavy-metal stylings, they've ...
Pros: The title track. Cons: Way too many to discuss here.
Armed with a new vocalist and drummer, Killswitch Engage return in 2004 with what is evidently a cruel, despicable method of inhumane torture, also called, The End of Heartache. Admittedly, the title track is a beast and a remarkably executed ...
Pros: Tight musicianship, solid mix of melodic and hardcore vocals Cons: You don't like this kinda music, you won't like this album.
I have, at times, been known to mock the sub-genre of metal known as "metal-core". This actually has little to do with the music these bands produce; in fact, I like many of the bands within the sub-genre. It more has to do with the implications of the ...
Pros: Blows the rest of the competition away Cons: Terrible, terrible cover art, a few lesser songs
Theres always some big band at the time who you somehow think will be more disgusting than they really are especially once you get out of the radio-friendly rock region. Thats one of the reasons Ive never delved into checking out ...
Pros: Great vocals, lyrics, and music... Cons: back half isn't as great as the first half.
Two gigantic red hands holding a steel heart, pierced by nails. This is the first thing that greets the eye when one surveys Killswitch Engage's junior release, The End Of Heartache. A picture of comfort amidst brutality, peace through struggle, ...
Pros: Guitar Harmonies, Vicious Vocals, Slayer-like Riffing, King size Breakdowns Cons: 'World Ablaze' fumbles around a bit.
When original Killswitch Engage vocalist Jesse Leach left the band suddenly and not long after they released their magnificent last album ‘Alive or Just Breathing’, their demise seemed written and assured. But it wasn’t :) They didn’t waste time ...
Pros: Howard's vocals melt with the band's sound; improved instrumentally Cons: "World Ablaze" dull and boring
Only two albums in, Killswitch Engage was taking over the underground with their fusion of hardcore, metal, and opuses of an operatic proportion. The band puts their hands into every facet of their work, from the music to the production to the ...
Pros: Wonderful guitars, vocals, and drums, awesome songs, a great follow-up to Alive or Just Breathing. Cons: The bass could be turned up a bit. World Ablaze's verse sounds awkward.
Killswitch Engage is on the verge of becoming one of the most popular metalcore groups today. And they're doing it despite the losses of their lead singer and drummer two years ago. Howard Jones and Justin Foley (both of Blood Has Been Shed) have ...
Pros: great multi-talents from all band members, smooth vocals with great emotion Cons: no real cons to this album
Killswitch Engage's THE END OF HEARTACHE is their first full-length album with singer Howard Jones, whom is all ready known for having a commanding stage presence and for shaking the stage when he jumps, on lead vocals. The rest of this line-up on ...
Pros: Amazing instruments, great choruses. Cons: Doesn't out amaze "Alive or Just Breathing?", some weak verses.
Killswitch Engage has become a major contributor to the Metalcore genre with their hit "Alive or Just Breathing?". After losing their vocalist Jesse Leach after their first major release, the band picked up vocalist Howard Jones from 'Blood Has Been ...
Pros: Rose Of Sharyn. Howard Jones' voice. Cons: Instrumental tracks are a bit of a letdown.
This is the first Killswitch Engage album with their new singer, Howard Jones and drummer, Justin Foley. Jones, a bear of a man, is quite possibly one of the most unique vocalists in music today. The music is heavy for the most part with some wonderfully ...
The End Of Heartache = Bronze medal by kennyd02 ,Jul 04 '07
Pros: The End of Heartache, When Darkness Falls Cons: Not really any cons, other songs just dont really appeal to me
Truly, this CD is a very worthy follow-up to Alive of just Breathing, to me, the complete standout track on this album is the title track "The End of Heartache" TEOH is my absolute favourite song on the CD, possibly my favourite song ever. Other mentionables include "When Darkness Falls", "Take this Oath", and "A Bid Farewell"
New Killswitch Engage CD is Amazing by luningr ,May 07 '04
Pros: Sick Lyrics... Sic music. Theres nothing better than this disk Cons: There is not one con about this disk
I am a huge Killswitch Engage fan and I didn't think that they could create a better album than their previous ones.... But HOLY CRAP was I wrong... I bought this CD expecting some really good music....but nothing near how good it was...... I was amazed at the lyrics of each song, the fast paced hardcore music that has made Killswitch Engage a house hold word. It is most definatley the best hardcore.....no....the best album out there period....end of story.....Buy this CD...You will be happy you did!!!!
