"Brothers and sisters, we're here for one reason, and one reason alone: to share our love of music. We present to you, Country Music Without Prejudice." Thus the duo Big & Rich announce themselves to the world, immediately and ...
Pros: They got a good contract with Warner. Cons: If you have a lot to drink, you might think it's funny stuff.
I thought it was high time I bought some current country music. After much sample playing at CD Universe, I bought Big and Rich Horse of a Different Color thinking this might be a CD I could enjoy without thinking too hard. I am really glad I ...
Pros: Unique blending of multiple genres. Cons: Unique Blending of multiple genres
Their story is unique. How they came to be a country duo is pure legend. Sometime around 1996 Lonestar and their bass player(and 2nd lead vocalist) John Rich left the band to pursue other things. By 1998, Lonestar was hot and Rich had a ...
Pros: All songs, but especially 'Wild West Show', 'Holy Water' and 'Deadwood Mountain' Cons: None.
Right from the start, Big & Rich tell you what they're all about referring to us all as 'brothers and sisters' inviting us all to their all inclusive ride of 'country music without prejudice' and what a ride it is! Big & Rich are no upstarts, they ...
Pros: Great variety of styles and lyrics; can be enjoyed by both traditionalists and contemporary fans. Cons: Their harmony together isn't the best; some songs lack repeat listen appeal.
To this day, I can't believe Big & Rich won me over. Their name alone seemed a little stupid, and when they burst through the gates with Save A Horse, Ride A Cowboy, I immediately dismissed them. This phrase is not particularly clever, has been ...
Pros: Upbeat and fun without the typical Nashville cookie-cutter sound. Cons: Some cheesy lines, but not that many overall.
I heard Wild West Show on the radio and thought, "these guys are okay, but I'm sure it's just this one single... the rest of "Horse of a Different Color" will probably sound like everything else coming out of Nashville." Luckily I didn't express my ...
Pros: Nothing boring about this album. Cons: Some different lyrics in songs, but good anyhow.
Horse of a Different Color, the debut CD from the country group, Big & Rich. After listening to their album a few times, the tunes, such as "Six Foot Town" or "Big Time" seem to grow on a person. Of course there are a few on the album that a person can ...
Country music without prejudice is a beautiful thing.... by disneychick72 ,Mar 08 '05
Pros: No prejudice! Cons: None
I know many are saying that Big and Rich is not country....well they are wrong. Big and Rich is the revolution that country has been needing...a kick in the butt if you will. I loved the first single off the album but then I listened to the WHOLE CD( very important) and it is marvelous! The music it self is great and the lyrics are the icing on the cake. They bring together so many different genera of music into one beautiful symphony of country music. You have to give it a try don't take everyone elses opinion...try it yourself and I am betting you will join the freak parade!
Pros: Tired of old-twangy country music-Give this a try! You won't be disappointed. Cons: Not one single con with this album
What an Awesome Album!! Thanks to Big and Rich for finally giving Country Music a change!. We call them our "Fruit Loops" in a world of the same old "Cheerios" Finally-someone to make a change and stand up for what is not "normal country music" We as Big and Rich fans-appreciate the change and the awesome music we get to listen to now!!!! Thanks Big and Rich!!!!
I first bought this cd for my sister because she loved the song wild west show. So I got it listened to it and fell in love with it! Big and Rich are great because they have so many differnt types of music. Rolling the Ballad of Big and Rich has a cowboy rapper where live this life is very religous. The other great song on this cd is Save A Horse Ride A Cowboy. Wild west show also shows there more country side. Trust me you wont regret buying this cd!
Pros: Excellent lyrics and music, fun all-around Cons: none
I was skeptical when my husband purchased this CD for me telling me that I would "love it." We tend to have different ideas on the music we love.
However, from the very first track, the upbeat, no apologies "Rollin'," to the beautiful "Saved," I knew that he was right. Big and Rich are some of the most creative artists to come out of anywhere in a long time. They have a something that will appeal to just about everyone, whatever your musical genre of choice.
John Rich has a beautiful, soulful voice and Big Kenny's rich baritone compliments it perfectly. Throw in Cowboy Troy and you've got a sure thing! Lyrically, they range from fun and silly ("Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)") to thought provoking ("Holy Water"). They make no apologies for their all-inclusive style and philosophy of acceptance. Society could learn a lot from them.
This CD is well worth the money and time spent listening to it.
This is defiantly country music without prejudice! by hope0428 ,Apr 18 '05
Pros: Great diverse country music!Inspiring,Fun loving,Great Music! Cons: I can't really find any!
When Big & Rich came on the scene I thought what?!Rappin Cowboys? Two-Foot Fred? I just didnt get it until I gave the guys a try! This is one of the best CDs I own. Although it has its rap and rock influences .it IS country! Each song tells its own story, something country music does well. One of my favorites is Rollin (The Ballad of Big and Rich) right of the bat it gets the message out! Then 12 more great songs follow it. Holy Water and Live This Life are two very inspiring and encouraging songs. I would tell anyone to buy this album!Im a member of the Big & Rich freak parade,my username is LoveEverybody0428.
Best Cd I have ever owned by kateandrich ,Feb 23 '05
Pros: Fantastic musical journey, something for everyone, my Mom even loves it. Cons: It's just not long enough.....
I heard Wild West Show on the radio, loved it. Then I heard Save a Horse, I went out of my mind. I bought the CD in September and I haven't taken if out of my player since then. I listen to it every day and I hear something I haven't heard before. It blows my mind. You have a mix of country, rap, border line gospel and some really hard to describe music. And for some crazy reason it works so well together, it has a beautiful flow and I can't get enough. If you like this CD I advise you buy the Super Galactic Fan Pack. It's fun but it really gives you an up close and personal show of just how talented these two guys really are.
Pros: Fresh, new, ground-breaking, fun. Cons: Contemporary country fans may not like some of the in-your-face stylings.
This album is just plain CRAZY! There is something for everyone in Horse of a Different Color. If you like old country, it's got definite old country flavor. If you like new country, it's got a TON of new country hits. If you don't like country - HELL - there is even something in here for you! Everyone is probably familiar with "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" which had everyone from hillbillies and rednecks to stock brokers and lawyers singing and grooving on the dance floor, but that song was just the tip of the iceberg. Check out the "Rollin' (The Ballad of Big 'n' Rich")" and you'll be introduced to "hick-hoppin'" Cowboy Troy and his funky country-rap. If you haven't heard "Holy Water" yet, this is a heartfelt song about spousal abuse drawn from real-life experiences. There definitely is something for everyone on this album.
BIG AND RICH ROCK MY WORLD by lilsistersally ,Apr 07 '05
Pros: AWESOME SONGS Cons: NOTHING!!!
This sexy duo is great. They are full of energy and the best thing that has come to Country music in a long time!! I bought their album after I first heard "WILD WEST SHOW," then I listened to the whole thing all of the way through and I could not get enough of it. Their songs are full of life and love. When I pop this CD into my CD player it just makes my day. Every song on this CD is awesome and you'll want to listen to it over and over again. You won't be sorry for buying this CD.
