Pros: Awesome beats, occasionally hilarious rhymes, the Beasties' amazing chemistry. Cons: The preaching occasionally takes away from what would be perfectly good songs.
I guess the first thing I should tell you about The Beastie Boys' sixth proper studio album is that it's a straight up hip-hop record. There's no riffage like “Sabotage” or “No Sleep Till Brooklyn”. The Boys don't pull out the instruments. There are no ...

Pros: fun, thoughtful, old-school hip hop; no filler tracks Cons: not enough "big" tracks
After six years, an attack on their hometown, and the reign of a president they abhor, the Beastie Boys have returned to tell us what they think about all this. To The 5 Boroughs shows the Beasties giving their views on the state of the ...

Pros: a couple of decent tracks Cons: artificial, sterile beats and production, awful lyrics
It isn't a simple concept: if you're going to take six years in between albums, you had better be creating something that blows my mind so much, that I'm intimidated to review it for eight months (see Tool's Lateralus album). ...

Pros: Some classic Beastie Boy tracks. Lots of kicking beats. Cons: Most of the Beastie Boys flow is stale. Very little memorable moments.
6 years later Beastie Boys go at another attempt to produce some classic tracks. At times, could be considered a ground breaking group with a couple of their previous albums. Almost everyone's heard the new single "Ch-Check It Out" I've heard mix ...

Pros: A line or two, and that's about it. Cons: lame beats, music, rhymes, themes and...
I seriously doubt that the Beastie Boys are doing New York any favors with their latest release To The 5 Boroughs. Within minutes, I found myself incredibly bored and yearning for the two masterworks of days gone by. In 1986 the Beastie Boys ...

Pros: Great vibe, energy, and messages. Brilliant DJ work, and entertaining rhymes. Cons: A couple of average tracks.
The first Hip Hop album I ever became addicted to was the Beastie Boys 1986 opus License To Ill, with its high energy and frat boy humour, it was hard not to love Mike D, Ad-Rock and MCA. Along side Run DMC, the ...

Pros: A lot of songs that can be compared to their 1986 and 1989 masterpieces. Cons: Only a couple mistakes in the dis takes.
The Beastie Boys took stock of their long, strange trip in the music biz in late 1999 with the double-CD "Anthology: The Sounds of Science." And what a trip it has been. They started out easily enough as kids strung out on hardcore punk of the Black Flag ...

Pros: Nice old school feel, decent production, amazing DJing and scratching Cons: A little uneven, braggadocio gets tiring, not for everyone
The Intro: The Beastie Boys have been around for a long, long time. They made their debut in 86 with the legendary Licensed to Ill. Theyve gone on to make another classic Pauls Boutique and 4 other albums, ...

Pros: Some great rhymes by the Beastie Boys, good beats and outstanding DJ work Cons: A couple weaker tracks, but are still better than today's common rap
These Boys Bringing Back Their Beastie Rhymes and DJ Work Being some of the only respectable white rappers in the game, I have favored Beastie Boys over big names like Eminem, Dr.Dre, and Snoop Dogg all of my life. One reason that I see eye to eye ...

Pros: Taxes paid by the musicians benefit poor kids in Ethiopia Cons: The entire album is boring.
The Beastie Boys are living in 1984. They need to snap out of this cultural backwater they're living in or else just admit to being old and go off to do shows in a retirement home. Crappy scratching with moronic little samples being repeated incessantly ...

Pros: Mix Master Mike proves there ain't nobody better. Cons: Where to start. The whole thing is a disaster.
I don't want to waste much time on this garbage. All I gots to say is, "I waited 6 years for this BS??" First off, critics be praising this because the Beasties have gone to their old school roots. I ask them, why does that make it good. Their ...

Pros: Great beats, ingenious flow and rhymes, makes you laugh, makes you think, makes you rock. Cons: Politics not your thing? Warning - Album may make you think.
The first song I heard off of "To The 5 Boroughs" was the single and first song on the album "Ch Check it Out." I was excited just to hear a new B-Boys song, but I definitely wasn't all that impressed, it could have been a song left cut from Hello ...

A typical Beastie Boys Album
by pinkkitty6969 ,Jul 16 '04
Pros: Beastie BOys rule! Cons: Same old stuff... same sound.
It's been over 5 years since they released their last album. When they released this new album at the store, I was ecstatic. But it turns out that all their songs sound the same and it's hard to even tell them apart. I was listening to the cd with my mom in the car and she asked me why I was listening to the same song over and over again. If I were you I wouldn't buy the cd.

I AM AFRAID AGE AND POLITICS HAVE GOTTEN THEM TOO
by nixon73 ,Sep 21 '04
Pros: Most of the beats are decent Cons: No More Politics.
I will always buy a B-Boy album but this one and I hate to say it is pretty boring.
What happened to the guys who wrote Ill Communication and Paul's Boutique, and Check Your Head????
I feel like it is a campaign add 50% of the time, I ask why??
I can respect their views even if I don't agree with them but I didn't drop $15 to hear their views over and over.
However if they make a another album I get that one too, I just hope they go back to the sound that made them unique.
I just want to order a Cookie Puss.

Worst Beastie album ever!
by pdigital ,Jun 19 '04
Pros: the beats are OK Cons: too much politics
They spend to much time spitting anti-Bush remarks, and the beats sound like they were made by Michael Moore. They should really keep the politics out of rap or retire, though they are looking and sounding like the latter.
