Pros: Intricate, moving, and tremendously adept songwriting and musicianship from Staind. Cons: A couple of ordinary rockers. Not as widely heard or appreciated as it should be.
One of the most passionate bands in the current music scene, Staind has been lumped into the dreaded nu-metal music category, but their sound is significantly more mature and emotional than many of their counterparts. Staind evokes a wide range of ...
Pros: Rare moments where Staind decided to show up: "Layne" and "Price to Play" Cons: Everything else, guitar is lacking, lyrics are poor, Lewis can't express feeling happy.
With the massive financial and critical success of their first two studio albums Dysfunction and Break they Cycle, Staind was on a roll only they could stop. How'd they get this far in the first place? Intense and catchy guitar riffs, ...
Pros: Aaron's voice, powerful choruses Cons: Homogenized rock, all of the tracks were a little too similar
Summary Staind's second album, 14 Shades Of Grey, has by far surpassed the success of their first commercially successful album, Break The Cycle. However, I think that while the average performance of Shades of Grey is better than the first ...
Pros: The lyrics are beautiful. Some hard rockers. First half. Cons: Blandless. Lacks effort in the second half.
Staind's third album Break The Cycle was a huge hit back in 2001 and before that they were pretty big with Dysfunction due to their lead hit "Mudshovel". Before that, they did release an album named Tormented but nobody has really ever heard of it and it ...
Pros: Brilliant music and lyrics in most of the songs. Cons: Some songs get old
This is Stainds third effort, and I was "Blown Away" after listening to this. The sound in this album is certainly different than from Break the Cycle, it's not nearly as agresive and the guitar is not as heavy either. It opens up with "Price to Play" ...
Pros: Drumming is good for the genre, lyric quality has improved Cons: One Dimentional, Lyric themes more mature, but are well, dull.
After hearing “Break the Cycle” I was eager to hear the follow up. 14 shades… has gone even further in a soft direction. Unfortunately coming out… Pop. About half the album falls into a pop soft sound, rather than the dark soft, which they did well. ...
Pros: Flowingly human reflection in it’s shining ruggedness Cons: The whims concerning family members and the final track
Staind positively clogged the airways in 2001 with Its Been Awhile, complete with melody to make even those claiming to hate the Massachusetts fourpiece subconsciously tap their foot to the catchy tune. To follow up to that hit, and ...
This CD is amazing. I am a huge fan of Staind. I have all their CDs and I am proud to own this own. They have a good new sound and they are still as awesome as ever. What makes Staind so good is that Aaron Lewis takes the time to sit down and write his...
Pros: powerful lyrics, several new classics Cons: none whatsoever
After the amazing success of Staind's "Break the Cycle," Aaron Lewis and company are back in the rock game with a new album that equally compares to their last one. Break the Cycle introduced listeners to some songs that became immiediate classics such as "It's Been Awhile" and "Outside" and 14 Shades of Gray brings forth even more songs destined to become classics. The music is heavy, no doubt, but more mature than before. The lyrics are powerful and emotional, and Aaron Lewis proves he has one a voice in rock music to be reckoned with. Words cannot do justice to some of the songs on the album, you must hear them to believe them. "Price to Play" is the first single off the album, and is it ever a heavy song! "So Far Away" is the second single, and it starts off with a very mellow and peaceful guitar chord. Some other songs that are very solid are "Yesterday" "Fill Me Up" "Zoe Jane" and "Tonight." These are my favorite songs, but the whole album is very powerful and solid. Staind proves with this release that they are one of the more talented rock bands out there.
What happened to the i dont five a f*** lyrics by darkmage1032 ,Dec 03 '03
Pros: Good for concerts Cons: No more Thrashing dont give a f*** lyrics
This is a great cd but not the best that Staind has made. The Tormented Cd that about nobody has heard about because it was taken off shelves because of offensive material. This was released in 96' and since then i have noticed Staind becoming softer and softer until there is no more of the old Staind and the Thrashy-ness is all gone and it has turned into a softer group. But do not get me wrong; I Love Staind and they have made in my opinion a great cd but their older ones are better.
