Pros: Excellent, atmospheric uptempo tracks. Cons: Droopy, boring ballads.
The maturation of Coldplay from Radiohead's earnest younger brother to pop/rock behemoth has been pretty evident to anyone following their career thus far. "Parachutes" was an album that developed in much the same way the album grew on the listener. ...

Pros: The addition of synths and some U2 influence dress the band up nicely. Cons: Lame lyrics and dull arrangements seem to coincide at the most inopportune times.
Hey, magazines and newspapers and bigwig critics - can I ask you a favor? Could you all PLEASE stop referring to Coldplay as "The Next U2?"
Pretty please? I mean, come on. I can hear a good amount ...

Pros: scattered. Cons: foregrounded.
The pre-release press infinitely more interesting to engage than the album itself, Coldplay's X & Y arrives accompanied less by hype than by pre-written Buzzword Bingo cards. Arrange the following words and phrases as you see fit, and your ...

Pros: "Talk", "Low", "The Hardest Part". Occasionally pretty, occasionally galactic. Cons: Predictably predictable.
Much as I might love to jive, wail and show off my so-called "vast" musical knowledge of artists, I just don't know that much about Coldplay. I know that they are one of the biggest bands out there, but I don't spend much time out there. I know ...

Pros: A few decent songs, a few lyrics Cons: Duration, Nothing truly new from the band.
As I prepare to announce my October Artist Of The Month and post my first review from that group, I'm finishing off the "filler" I had until the new (to me) music arrived. The last album I had before my arsenal of new music came in was "X&Y" by ...

Pros: Utterly beautiful in places, subtle in its experiments Cons: "Speed of Sound" should never have been more than a B-side, much less a single
Disclaimer: I started writing this review some time ago. Since I started writing it, I started reading a few of the other Epinions reviews on this particular album. Unfortunately, they seem to tackle many of the same things mine do, and generally ...

Pros: a few moments of brightness... Cons: ...amongst many dull ones, cold production
Those of you who have paid attention to my reviews and rantings over the past few years no doubt know or are aware of my problems with Coldplay. Besides not understanding why everyone seems to have fallen in love with a faux alternative, adult ...

Pros: The band is at the top of their game on a handful of excellent tracks. Cons: Self-plagiarism and unimpressive adult contemporary schmaltz make appearances.
Coldplay has already garnered massive success in the new millennium. Their sweet debut album Parachutes was a success in 2000, and the follow-up, A Rush of Blood to the Head, was an absolute smash worldwide. They maintain the ...

Pros: I am a tireless soldier in the war against inanity. Cons: I haven't been around for almost two years. Sorry.
I hate to be the one to indulge in some petty Coldplay bashing, mostly because I think theyre smashing! However, I must confess I became increasingly irate, and decided I just had to berate. I should also begin with a big howdy (to all three ...

Pros: Chris Martin (seriously, I think he's a genius!), wonderful lyrics and gorgeous melodies... Cons: ...a few duds here and there
Coldplay has recently become one of my favorite bands. Though I've always been interested in their music (and especially lead singer, Chris Martin) it wasn't until my purchase of their 2000 debut, Parachutes that I began to call ...

Pros: A few good songs, most notably Fix You. Cons: Too many. Read the review.
Okay, let's get something straight right off the bat here first. In their prime, when they truly were the world's biggest and best band (80s through early 90s) U2 composed loud, frequently fast-paced bombastic rock, adding to it socially aware and ...

Pros: A clutch of very good songs, some good atmosphere on occasion Cons: Frankly, this is a boring album. And the lyrics are often terrible.
Coldplay is... Chris Martin - Vocals Jonny Buckland - Guitar Guy Berryman - Bass Will Champion - Drums The musical mainstream basically sucks nowadays. It's sad, but there was once a time when the radio was exciting, and that time isn't ...

Pros: For most of the album, Coldplay does their thing as only they know how Cons: Too much atmosphere, too much Chris Martin, harder to relate to than their previous releases
On June 7, two major albums came out from two major bands both at huge crossroads in their careers. Like The White Stripes, Coldplay had their big break with a cheesy (but good) pop song ("Yellow"), and then rocketed to superstardom with their follow-up ...

Pros: Great pop album with rich sound a lot of good music to listen to. Cons: The success of Coldplay's previous album set many expectations for X&Y that were not fulfilled.
The one thing about music is that it is a very subjective thing to judge. Having read the reviews for Coldplays X&Y album makes this more apparent to me than ever. We bring a lot of preconceived ideas about what music should be, what artists ...

Pros: Crystal clean production, touching melodies, generous playing time. Very consistant album throughout. Cons: Dr.Seuss style rhyming lyrics can get annoying at times. A few "techno" flavoured tracks.
It has been a couple of years since Coldplay's second album "A Rush Of Blood To The Head" hit the stores, and boy did it go down a treat, selling over 10 million copies world wide. Their recent release entitled: "X and Y" sees the band losing their ...
