Second time around
by matthew15 ,Oct 11 '07
Pros: Improved and matured over 3 years
Cons: Some slightly agressive songs ruining the albums theme
Well TSL'S second full length has the agressive songs like "Action" and "Inspired by the $" while slightly explit with "The B-list", but it has some nice balads "Ready", "Photography" and "Cut! Print it", as well as some Faster tempo songs "Making love to the camera", "The world" and "Bedroom talk" It is still about love, but more about marriage or long distance/long term relationships and subjects like needing and missing the one you love as "Stay where I can see you" states: for months you've been away, you're here a couple of days, we've got all of the time in the world" and "When you go away I get so lonely, like temperatures when they're at their coldest"

Second album not quite there.
by fubar69418 ,Jun 24 '05
Pros: Good background music, good song or two. Cons: Not the first album, can be too "dark"
The Starting Lines second album isn't has good as the first one. Where the first album (Say it Like You Mean it) dealt more with love and all that, the second deals with them maturing as a band. The second album is more slow-paced, unlike the other one. It is a nice album, but just not as good as their first one.

Better than the last? I disagree
by jonbmw ,Jun 06 '05
Pros: Some decent songs Cons: Not as good as their last
Other reviews say Starting Line has "matured" and this album is so much better than the last, but I don't see it. I am a big Starting Line fan, I love their last album (Say it like you mean it) and saw them in concert. However, I was disappointed by their new album as it was just OK. The first album's lyrics and melodies all combined perfectly to really amaze me (which is characterized by involuntary chills). Parts of this album tried to get there, and did at brief parts, but overall wasn't up to my expectations, and isn't something I crave to listen to again. It reminds me a lot of Something Corporate...I thought that Leaving Through the Window was great, but North was lackluster. So if you share that opinion then this review should be meaningful to you. I strongly recommend Acceptance's Phantoms instead of this album, especially if you liked TSL's first album better.
