Pros: Ne-Yo has an excellent ear for melody, good lyrics, mellow vibe. Cons: He's got a way to go before reaching his full artistic maturity.
Let’s face it. There’s a definite segment of today’s R&B scene that’s completely anonymous-especially when it comes to male vocalists. It’s a problem that was sure to raise its ugly head at some point when everyone’s trying to sound like either Michael ...
Pros: Smooth, silky voice; admirable song writing, fun to listen to. Cons: "Get Down Like That" is way too familiar "Stay" is a bit anonymous.
Arkansas Born, Las Vegas, Nevada raised Ne-yo exploded onto the scene earlier in 2006 when he released the forlorn, broken-hearted “So Sick”. It was immediately clear the kid had a smooth, Usheresque quality and the song is pretty much impossible not to ...
Pros: His voice is fresh and young, "So Sick", a couple of great tracks... Cons: The album is very boring, 6 really bad tracks, overproduced at times.
As much I wanted to write the FIRST review on this CD, I found that I would be the second person to review it. No hard feelings in me because I know we can't all have the first review and I know we Epinionators are family. Anyway, Ne-Yo is known as ...
Pros: Songwriting ability is quite strong. Vocals are good. Production is tasteful, lack of "guests." Cons: Sameness to album as a whole. Some lyrics are just silly.
Theres a secret about popular music that often goes unnoticed: the singers dont usually write their songs. To most people this is a country music only Phenomenon but if you look at any billboard magazine youll find that a good ...
Pros: Some well-written, well-sung, well-produced R&B Cons: Not the most memorable; Ne-Yo needs to tighten his overall package
Its a sad truth that R&B is becoming more disposable by the second. With record contracts being handed out like toilet paper at a Charmin convention, new artists and groups are entering the arena by the droves with nothing more than good looks and a ...
Pros: Quality sound, great tracks, rekindles the musical flames of yesterday. Cons: Nothing
Music according to Webster's New World Dictionary, is defined as the art of combining tones to form expressive compositions; Any rhythmic sequence of pleasing sounds. Music has enhanced the way those soulfully equipped with the heart to ...
Pros: After listening closely to the whole disc 3 times, the guy has it! Cons: Needs more topics to sing about!
Ne-Yo “In My Own Words” When you look at today’s newcomers you can tell the difference between those who will be here for years and those who will be around for 15 minutes. Many of them lack originality, vocals, and other crucial elements needed to ...
Pros: Ne-Yo's smooth delivery Cons: Most songs are only 3 minutes long
Finally, an R&B/hip hop artist who can sing! There's no hype, just good singing on this debut album, In My Own Words. And it's about time Ne-Yo penned his own words. Did you know that Beyonce's hit single, Irreplaceable was ...
Pros: clever lyrics, good voice, star in the making Cons: none
When I heard of this cat named Ne-Yo, I was like, "This is another R&B reject. He will only be here for two minutes." But I was shocked to hear how talented he was on the song, "So Sick", which blew him up and I couldn't believe that he wrote Mario's ...
Pros: Original songwriting, nice beats, not a whole lot of rap verses Cons: Subjects become a bit repetitive and a couple of songs are fillers.
I'm a young lady (21) who usually listens to music that's older than I am because the R&B singers of today lack depth. Period. I am willing to realize that not everything has to be as deep and as special as the Stevies or Marvins, but I'm tired of the ...
Pros: Great slow songs and lyrics Cons: None that I can think of
When I first got this album the only songs I would listen to were "So Sick of Love Songs",and "When you're Mad". Now I am addicted to the whole album. It's really good. Ne-yo has such a nice voice, and he is a great song writer. His songs are really catchy. I love the song "Sexy Love"
Pros: the words to all of his songs are wonderful and dude can sang Cons: The cd could have been a little longer than what it is
There's not that much more to say other than the CD is hot. To be honest at first the only reason why i brought the CD was because he was cute. but now that CD is one of my favorite CDs. I love the song "Time" it's number 12 on the CD it maybe one of the shortest songs on the CD but it is the best. But at the end of the CD i be looking for more. 13 songs just isn't enough with one them being a remix to a song. But it is still my most played CDs.
I'd Rather Listen To The Radio by tanyab983 ,May 30 '06
Pros: THE BEATS ARE OK Cons: EVERYTHING ELSE
Ne-Yo is just a stupid person. Teenage girls (and only teenage girls) fell in love with So Sick because it is all about love. But listen to the lyrics and this song is so stupid. He says he's so sick of love songs then he goes out and makes one.
The beats on the CD are okay I guess. You've heard the singles, u know the beats.
When You're Mad did terrible on the charts becuase teenage girls liked him and he came out with I like mad girls and pised off all the teenage women off and no one listened to his crap.
not quite a broke usher or r.kelly by danzoolo ,Feb 08 '07
Pros: great voice and has the talent of usher Cons: not much just nothing too original
ne-yo kinda shocked me with this one. "so sick" was kinda okay but sounded like a cheap ripoff of usher's "burn". but this record is actually not that bad. he has a great singing voice and his production has a smooth feel to it that is different. he can also write and has wrote a couple big hits. those three things is what sets him apart from the typical "broke usher/r.kelly" category (ray j, mario, omarion, tyrese, etc). not an amazing album that will win any awards but he has more than a couple usher qualities.
A master in the art of storytelling, Ne-Yo began writing at an early age. A vivid imagination and creative energy has allowed Ne-Yo to write songs for...More at Buy.com Marketplaces
