Pros: emotionally involving Cons: relatively short
I had been a classical music fanatic for years, when Kind Of Blue got me into listening to jazz. It's everything...fun, sentimental, heart-wrenching.... I bought this recording for just one track, So What, which I heard played at a cafe. As it turned...

Pros: Sweet tones Cons: none
I love Miles Davis. I can drift away to a better place when I listen to his music. No one can play like him. Each note is either exciting or mellow.
What I do is to empty the house, wait for just after sunset, dim light and just sit there and...

Pros: John Coltrane, Miles, as well as others Cons: None
You know I was at my local record store the other day, and I wished to buy something new. It was a Friday, and after a long week I was in the mood for something relaxing, something calm. As I walked around browsing, I found it. A Paul Simon CD that is...

Pros: Simply great jazz Cons: None
In my first semester jazz guitar class, we were told to buy three albums. Two of the albums featured guitarists, but the third was "Kind of Blue". It also turned out that it was the one that we used the most, and it is the one that I listen to...

Pros: *The* Jazz Album Cons: Absolutely None
As a jazz trumpet player, I own hundreds of jazz trumpet CD's. I listen to them fairly evenly, but this one keeps finding it's way back into my CD player. Perhaps its the well thought out lineup of tracks or the way the ensemble gels, but something...

Pros: Can listen to it over and over. Cons: None
The first time I listened to Kind of Blue, in 1996, I had been listening to mostly classical music, a lot of classical guitar. Yet, Kind of Blue struck a cord, so I bought it.
I've listened to Kind of Blue EVERY day for almost four years. No...

Pros: perfect introduction to jazz or addition to any collection Cons: still listening for any
With jazz albums, critical acclaim provides new guarantee that the album will be enjoyable to listen to or that it will appeal to a broad audience. With this album, though, any listener willing to put in the time to acquaint himself with this album...

Pros: Very fluid and relaxing Cons: None
Miles Davis never fails to amaze his audience, and he does it once again with "Kind of Blue." He plays with such feeling and fluidity that its not hard at all to fall in love with this album the very first time you hear it. I feel like I'm...

Pros: Great sound, great value! Cons: None!
If there is one CD that a jazz lover must have, it is "Kind of Blue," with Miles Davis. The newest version contains a new "repeat" track, and sounds better. Each piece is great... the sound is rich and full. If you close your eyes,...

Amazing
by leticius ,Jun 16 '09
Pros: Beautiful, relaxing, inspiring, creative Cons: There are cons in music like this?
The first jazz record I ever owned, gifted to me at the first lesson that hipped me to the musician's path.
Also, the first solo I ever transcribed was Miles' on Freddie the Freeloader. I can still play it back 6 years later! This album is incredible. It marks beginning, ending, transformations in jazz.
Bill Evans is on point, his beautiful touch underlying the intensity of coltrane, soulfulness of cannonball, and "quiet fire" of miles. It's just an amazing album that belongs in everyone's library.
