Pros: We have you back :-) Cons: You don't sound as good :-I
Thank you , boys, for coming back and going on tour but something is a bit amiss...where you true flava at? I read an article in the newspaper (yes people still do that) about this album before I bought it and I really shouldn't have, That way, I would ...
Pros: Sheer talent. Cons: A tad stuck in the early 90's.
While creating the album "Strays", Jane's Addiction either did too much drugs or not enough. The album is good but isn't overwhelmingly captivating as their first three. Although these boys can really play, you get the feeling that the songs are slightly sonically gravitating towards the sounds of the early nineties for this type of music.
I wish there was a song or two on here that was reminiscent of "Three Days", but every time a song starts out in some cool, dark, mysterious, laid-back melody it abruptly kicks into a fast paced testosterone fueled jam fest.
I think guitarist Dave Navarro was too overpowering on the album. While the guitar riffs are impeccable, it feels a tad antiquated this day in age. Remember when he went over to the Red Hot Chili Peppers and they lost all their funk?
Pros: Everything you'd want in a hard rock band Cons: A bit more standard than their other albums
Jane's Addiction has what every hard rock fan likes in spades, and they deliver nothing less on this album. Though it was released a full thirteen years after their last real album, it doesn't sound out of place at all with the rest of their music. Simply put, this album rocks with a fervor that is sorely missing from mainstream music nowadays. Though many will say it's not as good as Ritual de lo Habitual or Nothing's Shocking, it towers above most everything else being put on the shelves today. If the majority of the emo, punk, and (what's left of) nu-metal that the suits give us is your bag, then you might have a harder time getting into this. But if you like your rock like they used to make it back in the day (to use an age-old cliché - pun intended), then this is as good as it gets.
