Pearl Jam Comes Back

by PacManY2J PacManY2J is a Top Reviewer on Epinions in Music, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Nov 12 '06
Pros: A renewed spirit
Cons: none
Rejuvenated. That is the word that keeps coming to mind whenever someone asks me what the new Pearl Jam album sounds like. The band truly does sound like they've rediscovered their love of being Pearl Jam. That's not to say their last couple ...

I waited until now to get into Pearl Jam. I should've known Vedder.

by divad23 divad23 is a Top Reviewer on Epinions in Music, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 200, Jul 13 '06
Pros: Excellent, urgent rock songs with sweet guitar moments; powerful ballads near the end; intriguing lyrics.
Cons: Gruff, agitated vocals may take some getting used to. Politics may turn a few listeners off.
I'm not sure why I never got into Pearl Jam until now. They're practically legendary within the world of alternative rock, and there are several songs by the band that I'd recognize if I were to hear them today, and I wouldn't be likely to think, ...

Pearl Jam's Self-Titled Eighth Album: This Avocado's Got Bite

by shilmafone Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Jul 19 '06
Pros: The first truly great rocking songs Pearl Jam has written in many, many years
Cons: A little bit of musical boredom shows up...but only a little
It shouldn't have been too hard to see it coming -- all we had to do is look at the first single. Pearl Jam hasn't released a first single that completely rocked out in over ten years. Sure, "Given to Fly" wasn't a ballad exactly, but it ...

Darkness Comes In Waves, Why Invite It To Stay?

by MattA75 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 50, Apr 10 '06
Pros: song development, unbelieveable lyrics, the constant theme of triumphing over adversity
Cons: Parachutes is gorgeous but feels out of place, Big Wave is sort of a throwaway
Note: I waited 3.5 years for this thing. You bet your a*s it's a long review! It's hard to believe that it's been over eight years since Pearl Jam released Yield, considered by many of their most loyal fans to be their best ...

Why Pearl Jam should be feeling that little bit more plump and happy right now

by blackstar40 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, May 06 '06
Pros: Several excellent, foot-tapping, adrenaline-rushing, pounding, relentless numbers... with a couple less impressive ones...
Cons: Perhaps it's not quite the 'return-to-form' diehards would hope for
Of all the bands of the grunge era, there are five that managed back in the 90s to separate themselves from the rest, whether it be by creating something new, opting to inspire revolution, or simply achieving extreme commercial success (in some cases, ...

PEARL JAM, Rock N'Roll's core

by silktempest Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, May 27 '06
Pros: PEARL JAM strongest, most cohesive set, since the debut
Cons: Maybe too retro for fashionists...
After so many years of musical grievance and political ponderance, PEARL JAM's eponymous 8th record is a return to form. Back to basics, freshness again. Take it by the minimalist, yet colorful, fruit-core sleeve. Eddie Vedder trades ...

Some great rockers keeps Planet PJ in good shape.

by eddielancekick , May 22 '06
Pros: Several great rock based tracks.
Cons: The slow songs didn't seem very strong, but may grow on you over time.
By now Pearl Jam has long been established as a band you can count on. Consecutive studio releases coupled with live albums, a B-sides/unreleased tracks album and a greatest hits package not to mention worldwide tours, they haven’t gone away. In my ...

Sending a Big Wave to PJ

by ninelives353 , Jul 19 '06
Pros: More back to basics than "Riot Act" (as much as I loved it), lyrically/musically strong
Cons: Couple of lesser tracks but there are few albums that don't have those.
They are the best rock band in the world, period. That's not even an opinion, it's fact. How do I know it's fact? Because I was visited by a mysterious shadow in the night and he carved it in my forehead. A bit of history on Pearl Jam because I ...

Eddie and Company Are Back...

by boom_the_cat , Oct 22 '06
Pros: Musically Solid, wont disappoint the hardcore fans.
Cons: Not very moving, lacks feeling, Parachutes.
Ok, so a couple of years back from now, I have just got into Pearl Jam, and I'm loving every moment. I buy all the albums and listen to them whenever I can, so as you can imagine, the thought of a new album excites me to no end. On the day of release ...
