Pros: A handful of decent songs not limited to Friday I'm in Love... Cons: Samey production, songs are too long, repetitive melodies...
The Cure hit their stride some time in the mid-1980s. Since then, their music has been inconsistent at best. They are a band Ive always tried to love, but for some reason or another the albums fall short of expectations. While early albums ...
--------------- To celebrate the forthcoming release of The Cures b-sides on a four disc box-set, Join the Dots, Ive decided to spend a couple of weeks wallowing in the music of one of my favourite bands. Feel like joining in ...
Pros: One of their best records Cons: They only made two more in the 90s, one being a total throwaway
In the early 90s The Cure were one of the best bands in the world. Disintegration (1989) became an epic culmination of everything theyd write over the course of the 80s, spawning a series of astounding pop singles - Pictures of ...
Pros: overall excellent album, a musical and emotional roller coaster Cons: departs somewhat from the traditional Cure sound, a bit more mainstream, a bit derivative
Let me introduce you to a little album known as Wish The album which enthused the critics, was overplayed horribly, became the bane of Cure fans and embraced by the masses.
Pros: Strong guitar and drum work, beautiful lyrics, and nice production values. Cons: Some track selections may have you scratching your head.
After the success of 1989's Disintegration, The Cure took a little time off to regroup. In the time off, Cure leader Robert Smith came up with some pecuilar ditties. He was also witness to a little thing called grunge. The Cure were 'alternative,' and the ...
Pros: It's a another unique Cure album, not a bad follow-up to Disintegration. Cons: Repetitive melodies, too sugary too often.
So you've become the centerpiece of teenage angst, you've been bombarding the British charts with singles for over a decade, you're starting to sell nicely to drooling Americans thanks to a new mid-career greatest hits album cast overseas, and you've ...
Pros:Apart, Doing the Unstuck, Trust, A Letter to Elise, To Wish Impossible Things Cons: Some songs not quite as good as others.
I’m no Cure expert by any means. I’m just some astonished fan who greatly appreciates their music. That said, Wish is an incredibly underrated album in the Cure catalogue. Yes, it has its bad moments, but so does every other album out there, right? ...
Pros: Beautiful, fun and interesting lyrics. Cons: None.
It is easy to see why Wish went straight to the top of the charts in the UK and in America when it first came out. Wish is an outstanding piece of work, it was hailed as the Cure's finest album to date in 1992 when it was released and three of the...
Pros: A few good songs... Cons: The worst cure song ever is on here...
First and foremost, let me start by saying I am a huge Cure fan. I have been listening to the cure since 1981, and I own damn near everything you can get by them, minus some obscure bootlegs. So, when this CD came out, needless to say I ran out and...
A friend I met online first introduced me to The Cure in 1997. I read some of the lyrics and they were very different and interesting. Even though I wasn't into this kind of music, I decided to go hear some of their songs. The first songs I downloaded...
Pros: The guitar work of the great Prol Thompson Cons: I've grown a bit tired of "Friday I'm in Love"
It's a rule of thumb with once-cool, alternative bands- their early, far-from mainstream stuff is seminal and brilliant, and then, once they hit the charts, they suck.....
Is this true? Well, that's tough to say. Of course, most die-hard REM fans...
Pros: The Cure delivered again Cons: I don't like the cover art
While there are Cure albums that I like better, I can definitely stand to listen to this Cure album as well. The lyrics and melodies definitely go beyond simply "upbeat" if you care to pay a little attention. "doing the unstuck" is a...
I first want to start out by saying that I am a true Cure fan. I own basically all of their material( with the exception of rare singles and b-sides). The Cure usually produce their material with an overriding gloomy feeling and deep introspective...
I heard "Friday I'm in Love" and I was in love. I was hooked, the Cure had me.
The Cure is the most intriguing and unique band I know. Their lyrics, their music, their thoughts, everything is different about them. Wish was the first...
the most overrated cure album, but still great by rrrrp ,Oct 31 '06
Pros: Elise, Friday, and To wish impossible things Cons: open coincidentally not the best opener.
this is a very popular album by the cure propelled by a couple of smash hits. But I think it lacks some sort of depth I cant put my finger on. Not the worst album by the band, but close to it. Friday Im in love, and elise are the two best tracks. And I usually dont approach cure albums like that, Seventeen sec, pornagraphy and the top being three of my favorites, but it's true. The rest of the album is still good, but hits aside, leaves something to be desired. As unpoplular as it sounds, I like their follow-up wild mood swings better.
