Just a solid, blues-based rock album

by HawgWyld Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 200, Sep 21 '03
Pros: As solid a Doors album as you'll find; consistent throughout
Cons: Kind of short at 37 minutes
What's a little bit frustrating about the doors, I think, is that there's often more attention paid to lead vocalist Jim Morrison's antics and instability than to the actual music the band recorded. Morrison Hotel, if nothing else, proves one thing ...

The Doors--Check Into The Morrison Hotel

by sparkospunky Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 100, Jan 04 '01
Pros: Varied musical themes with an emphasis on the blues roots of the players
Cons: None to speak of
Morrison Hotel, released in 1970, is actually two albums in one. The first part of the album is titled Hard Rock Cafe, and consists of six tracks, while the second part is called Morrison Hotel, which has five tracks. The entire...

There's blood in the streets it's up to my ankles...

by melanierose , Oct 25 '00
Pros: Everything.
Cons: None at all!
Morrison Hotel is a come-back album. The Doors had gone through a 'dry' spell before releasing this, their second last, record. Prior to the release of Morrison Hotel, The Doors were exploring different sounds (the previous Soft...

Thrill My Soul

by saulsbury , Feb 05 '00
Pros: Classic Jim, plus timeless songs dominated by Krieger
Cons: Jim lost it in the tub not too long after
Ocean City, Maryland, summer of 1981 : I bought the new Doors Greatest Hits album, the one with the red and white and black cover. Rolling Stone ( back when it was worth reading ) had just published their infamous Jim Morrison cover - "He's Hot,...

The real Doors!!

by Darth_Player , Mar 02 '00
Pros: No throwaway tripe, it's like y' know Rockin' Dude!!
Cons: none
As a rule the Doors are known for poetic, "psychedelic" epics like "The end" or "when the music's over" or else they are adored by "angst-ridden" teenagers, who view the Oliver Stone movie and...

Checking In Or Out?

by TheSlobby , Mar 10 '01
Pros: Back to basics. Peace Frog/Blue Sunday, and Queen Of The Highway
Cons: The innovation, the mystery, and the magic are gone.
Released in 1970, Morrison Hotel continued the destruction of Jim Morrison's 'Rock-God' image that began on the previous album, The Soft Parade. Gone were the tacky horn and string arrangements that would certainly have ended a lesser bands career, and...

The Doors - "Morrison Hotel (Hard Rock Cafe)"

by Mr_D Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Dec 07 '99
Pros: Probably the best Doors' album. Every song is good. Pure Blues driven Rock'n'Roll.
Cons: Nothing at all.
The Doors' fifth studio release, "Morrison Hotel" put out in 1970, and remains to be not only my favorite Doors album, but I think their best album in general. Like "The Soft Parade", "Hotel" only has two real popular songs...

The Doors Through Windows

by travinsky , Apr 08 '08
Pros: A great album by one of rock's finest bands.
Cons: Only the fact that some of the songs took a while to get into
When people think of the musical group The Doors, songs such as “Light My Fire” and “Break On Through” tend to come to mind first. Those were the first songs I thought of years ago before I knew what The Doors were really about. Besides their ...

Blood in the Streets in the town of New Haven
by wappy ,Nov 28 '04
Pros: Great tunes that are staples of the Doors Music.
Cons: When you branch off to more exciting Doors' albums, this one collects dust.
Morrison Cafe, a classic. One of the doors staples. This taps into the blues side of the doors and continues to be an instant favorite people just exploring the doors. If you are not sure about what album to first start off with this is one of them. It will not bring you down (down to tangie town). Remember this is a great album for starters that are exploring the Doors.
