Pros: very moving, very beautiful, very inspiring, incredible views Cons: includes a heart-wrenching account of the 1996 tragic Rob Hall expedition
I did not expect this movie to have the impact on me that it did. I have wanted to see it for a long time, and had caught part of it when it was shown on television relatively recently. I was really not prepared to be so effected by this movie. ...

Pros: Beautiful camera work, very artistic Cons: Story just brushed the surface
Of IMAX movies, this is the kind of thing to see. It's not 3-D, but it's still a great film to see on the big BIG screen, and they definitely picked a great story and place.
This is both eye-candy and a good story to get into. It begins with...

Pros: Emotional, Exciting, Educational--Magnified by IMAX visuals and sound Cons: none
This is one of the best IMAX features I have seen. It is a true documentary, revealing the triumphs and heartaches of the actual climbers before and during the climb. Being able to experience the climb through the magic of IMAX magnifies the impact....

Pros: spectacular! Cons: None
The IMAX film Everest is beautiful and poignant. An IMAX film crew undertook a climb of Everest a few years ago, around the same time that the Everest tragedy occurred where several climbers lost their lives.
The imagery, as in most IMAX...

Pros: Quality of Everest shots Cons: Relationship to the book I read
The IMAX film team was along (and helped rescue) with the disastrous 1996 Mt. Everest summit attempt. This attempt was described in Jon Krakauer's novel Into Thin Air.
The release of Everest brought many people to the theater,...

Pros: Beautiful Application of the IMAX Format, A Must-see if You've Read 'Into Thin Air' Cons: You'll Have to Find an IMAX Theater or Hope it Plays on Television Once Again
If you've read Krakauer's superb Into Thin Air then you must make an attempt to see Everest, a breathtaking film that takes full advantage-- as far as both content and execution are concerned--of the IMAX format. As has been well...

Pros: beauty and danger Cons: wish it had been longer.
Does the thought of snow covered peaks make you drool? Does strapping on crampons and weilding an ice axe in each hand make you tingle? Does walking across bottomless crevasses across two aluminum ladders strapped together make you all hot and...

Pros: great experience Cons: bad color hehe
I went to watch this at the Franklin Institute a few years ago, and it was pretty good. The chairs and the theater were situated so that you felt like you were with the expedition up Everest. It felt very real, and i even got butterflies in my tummy!...

Pros: scenery, inspiring story Cons: not long enough
Climbing a mountain, even the tallest mountain on Earth, is not an act to which I would normally assign the term “heroism”. Undoubtedly, that kind of endeavor requires courage, intelligence and a degree of physical stamina that most of us simply don’t...

Pros: Fantastic camera work, fast moving and absorbing Cons: The film could have been longer.
When I went to see Everest I was prepared for a roller-coaster ride of avalanches, stomach churning drops and crevasses and the accent firmly on the adrenaline side of mountaineering. Whilst there is certainly enough of this sort of content to keep most...

Pros: Beautiful scenery, entertaining as well as scenic. Cons: None.
My husband is a huge climbing aficionado, and the language and names of climbers are common knowledge around our house. His particular passion is all things Everest, so of course we couldn't wait to see the IMAX -- and we weren't disappointed. The IMAX...

Pros: Cinematography, music, stirring lessons on climate, geology, human physiology and endurance, culture of Tibetans.
Cons: Mild profanity.
This is an adroit mix of adventure, spectacle, history and real-life drama, with an engaging cast of real people caught up in a circumstance beyond their control. One of the best IMAX productions ever.
Ed Viesturs, of...

Pros: displays the immense power of Everest Cons: short film
This film was very emotional for me just for the fact that I read the book High Exposure first and became familiar with the characters thoughts. I envied all of the climbers on the mountain for following their dreams. The dedication presented by these...

Pros: Gorgeous Cons: none
This was the second greatest IMAX film I’ve ever seen. The big screen effect was enough to send chills running through me. I sat there shivering through so much of the film. This was truly a magnificent film. I hope everyone takes time to see it....

Pros: An amazing film and moving story Cons: Death haunts the film and the mountain
This IMAX movie is as breathtaking as an ascent of the mountain without oxygen. Reading Jon Krakauer's bestselling book, "Into Thin Air," will make the experience even more profound. The phenomenal popularity of both shows us more than the...
