  • The worst "best picture" ever? Quite possibly!

Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Mar 21, 2005
Pros: a few minutes of entertainment from a Welsh Arab, a once-exciting chariot race (that_like_everything_else_here_goes_on_too_long)
Cons: script, length, plausibility, editing, acting, directing, music, special effects

Summary: No movie has won more Academy Awards than “Ben Hur,” so it and “Titanic” must be the greatest movies of all time, right? Not hardly! Long ago, I designated “Ben Hur” the worst ... read more

Pros: Great story, impressive sets and costumes, intelligent dialog and that chariot race.
Cons: The sea battle, and some 50's film making conventions.

Summary: I suspect those reading this come from two distinct camps: one, comprised of viewers 40 and older who've seen Ben-Hur at least once in the theatre (though not likely in its intended "Camera 65" presentation), as well as a couple of times on ... read more
