Pros: Absurd over the top plot, dialogue and ending.
Cons: All bad movies can't be this good.

Summary: The Brain that Wouldn't Die is one of my top ten bad movie favorites.  It's  one of the most entertaining movies you'll ever see!Dr. Bill Cortner (Jason Evers billed as Herb Evers) is a brilliant scientist with a common character ... read more

  • Better Than a Wedgie

Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Jun 1, 2010
    Pros: Pretty good head illusion
Cons: Not that great in acting and pacing

Summary: Does The Brain That Wouldn’t Die really have a cult following or was someone pulling my leg? I mean it’s better than getting kicked in the teeth but so is a wedgie. Well, maybe that’s debatable. The title is a little misleading, ... read more

  • Brainy Broad

    Aug 17, 2008
Pros: Good concept sci-fi horror flick
    Cons: No clear story development

Summary: The Brain that Wouldn’t Die from 1959 is a terrible move, a science fiction film with no scientific validity and bad pacing. Despite the drawbacks, the movie has moments that generate some unintentional humor due to poor execution. Dr. Bill Cortner ... read more

  • Horror Classics: The Brain that Wouldn't Die (24/50)

    Mar 21, 2008
    Pros: Jan in the Pan.
Cons: Drags a bit in places.

Summary: Now here’s a movie that never seems to get old, no matter how many times I see it. Dr. Bill Cortner (Jason Evers) is a brilliant man, experimenting with limb and organ transplants (something I’ll assume wasn’t possible in 1959 when this ... read more

  • Head in a tray!

    Jan 22, 2008
Pros: Good effects, interesting plot, sufficiently weird.
Cons: The mad scientist is pretty one-dimensional, although creepy.

Summary: The title and plot alone should tell you that this movie is pretty insane. It's actually somewhat similar to Re-Animator, with the severed head in a pan of blood and the doctor trying to overcome death, with a bit of Bride of Re-Animator, with the whole ... read more

  • A severed head that should be seen and not heard.

    Sep 3, 2005
Pros: We are treated to an old fashioned cat-fight
Cons: Jan’s head nags so much that her mouth has to be taped shut.

Summary: As a child I saw this movie on the Saturday evening horror feature, and I can remember being scared. As I have branched out and started reviewing bad, or “classic” horror/scifi b-movies, I thought I would revisit this title. Well, it was far ... read more

  • Should have won an Academy award . . yuck yuck.

    Aug 14, 2003
    Pros: Everything
Cons: The lead thought he could out do William Shatner on the ham-o-meter.

Summary: Let it be said that I am quite the B-Movie fanatic. Let it also be said that I am quite the BAD Movi ... read more

    Jul 19, 2002
    Pros: I'm patiently waiting
    Cons: well

Summary: It’s getting worse all the time. This stellar production features another mad doctor interested in transplants. This time, however, we are considering body part transplants, any old body part will do, thank you. The demented doctor in ... read more

  • A Movie to Lose Your Head Over!

    Aug 11, 2001
Pros: Perhaps the definitive B-movie! Great for that rainy, Saturday afternoon!
Cons: Not a one unless you're expecting Academy Award caliber acting...

Summary: Diverging from my spleen-venting over the automotive industry, I'll spend this Saturday morning reviewing an obscure-classic: The Brain That Wouldn't Die. This is one of my "guilty pleasures"; a campy b & w horror flick, with a lotta silliness ... read more

  • The movie that wouldn't end!

Rated a Somewhat Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Mar 16, 2001
    Pros: The . . . um . . . head?
    Cons: The movie.

Summary: What a terrible, terrible movie. I loved it. Although, I can't quite put my finger on the plot. A scientist who's into replacing lost limbs purposefully gets into a car accident that severs his wife's head. Then, he goes around to local prostitution ... read more
