by dragonfire88 dragonfire88 is a Top Reviewer on Epinions in Movies, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 50, Jan 29 '08
Pros: Great cast in a funny, entertaining movie.
Cons: Some silly parts. Effects look dated.
Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd have been in several comedies over the years, many of which are now considered comedy classics. I've enjoyed many of their movies, including 1984's Ghostbusters< b>< i>. Dr. Peter Venkman< b>, Dr. Ray ...

Dogs and Cats, Living Together

by Goatius Goatius is a Top Reviewer on Epinions in Movies, , Mar 30 '00
Pros: Very entertaining, very funny script and performances
Cons: Odd mixture of comedy and horror at times
Ivan Reitman’s comedy/horror flick was a blockbuster smash that still holds up well, due to exceptional special effects and very funny performances from the fine group of comedians assembled. The only significant noticeable problem is the uneasy ...

Your Everyday Ivy League Heroes Here to Save the World!

by emmit_brown , Jan 28 '06
Pros: Very well crafted comedy that is as well the most unbelievable.
Cons: The franchise became totally commercialistic and made an abhorrent sequel.
“Ghostbusters” (directed by Ivan Reitman and written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis) is an oddity of a movie from the 1980s that somehow became not only a box office hit, but an 80’s icon in less than a few weeks since its premiere. It is ...

DO NOT CROSS THE STREAMS!!!!

by tgregoryt Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Aug 27 '05
Pros: Comedy, action, acting, soundtrack, plot, special effects, character development, horror, locations
Cons: Animated clay figurines not quite up to Star Wars standard.
So back in 1984 we had our hands full with running inflation and some actor named Ronald Reagan trying to get himself re-elected. We also had a great movie come out named “Ghostbusters”. Ghostbusters has Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, great comedy, a ...

Vintage 80s comedy. One of the best comedies of the decade.

by ilovefilms , Nov 01 '06
Pros: Great comic timing from Bill Murray. Funny script.
Cons: One or two plot holes and grainy matte work.

Who ya gonna call?

by seacow Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Aug 08 '08
Pros:
Cons:
There are some movies that seem to get less airtime than their sequels. It may just be my imagination or there could be some reason I’m not aware of. However, on the few occasions that I randomly watch TV, I seem to catch Ghostbusters II more often ...

Frightfully Funny

by silentrascal , Aug 25 '02
Pros: Great story. Lots of humor and good special effects. Great performances.
Cons: Some effects are quite dated and cheesy by today's standards.
Ivan Reitman's "Ghostbusters" remains to this day a classic comedic gem, one of the best films to come out of the 80's. It's one of the funniest movies I've seen and just seems to be that much funnier on repeated viewings.

For those who...

Let's Get Slimed

by jackiechad , May 27 '05
Pros: good comedy, fun characters, GHOSTS
Cons: some hokey moments, some dated effects
Ghostbusters is one of my favorite movies of the 80’s. In fact, I listed it in my top 10 favorites of all time until Lord of the Rings and Passion of the Christ caused me to rearrange my entire list (and Narnia may well have me rearranging again). I ...

Ghostbusters!

by dylgon , Aug 31 '04
Pros: Some good special effects, some funny scenes, good acting.
Cons: Generally not funny, generally bad special effects.
I remember really enjoying Ghostbusters as a kid. I thought it was amazingly funny, so I decided to buy it when I saw it for a cheap price. I have to say, that although it was half decent and had some funny parts, I was generally ...

"Ghostbusters" de-ionize the border between action and comedy

by stephenryan , Jun 14 '01
Pros: Good comedy, nicely done action sequences, plot is interesting.
Cons: Are there any?
"Let's say this Twinkie represents the normal amount of psychokinetic energy in the New York area. Based on this morning's reading, it would be a Twinkie thirty-five feet long, weighing approximately six hundred pounds," said Dr. Egon Spengler, the...

Dogs in refridgerators and Slimeballs in hotels

by spraybottle , Jun 13 '00
Pros: great humor, decent effects, nice acting, good performances, etc.
Cons: The romance doesn't work, the buildup to the climax is somewhat clunkily handled
16 years after first being released, "Ghostbusters" has proven to be a modern comic classic. Is it a great movie? Perhaps not but can you think of any other movie from the 1980's besides say "Back to the Future" that is just as...

I Ain't Fraid a No Ghost!

by johnenfield , Nov 01 '01
Pros: Great gags and 1-liners, cool effects, funny performances by all the cast
Cons: Not a kid's movie as it was and is marketed to be.
Most of us have fond memories of spending the night at Grandma and Grandpa's house when we were kids. Among the usuall memories I have of fresh baked cookies, playing dominoes and other games with them, and generally getting spoiled rotten is the memory...

Who you gonna call?

by Ronboy Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Dec 16 '00
Pros: the entire cast, the originality, the humor, the script
Cons: a few dull moments
Hey, why not open with Ray Parker Jr's most famous lyric? In 1984, Ivan Reitman pulled a rabbit...err, ghost, out of his hat. He teamed up with STNL stars Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd to ignite a box office wild fire with Ghostbusters.

I was...
