Pros: great acting, good script, suspense builds nicely, soundtrack, effects, cinematography, bonus materials Cons: how did fashion ever survive the 70's
Once upon a time, a man named Peter Benchley wrote a little novel about a seaside town terrorized one summer by a 35-foot great-white shark. A little-known director by the name of Steven Spielberg picked up the script and begged the studio to let him ...
Pros: Suspense, Acting, Direction, Score Cons: Only the middle drags a bit

Pros: Spielberg, Shaw, Sheider and Dreyfuss Cons: A touch-dated-at-times but this is also good in the way it brings us back-in-time.
Back in the early 70's my wife and I were traveling cross country, just the two of us, as a young married couple out to see the spectacular wonders our nation held for us. My eight-track tape player wasn't always working well so, while I was driving ...
Pros: Great screenplay by Benchley & Gottlieb. Good acting, fine directing, terrific score by J. Williams Cons: Its success bred such awful sequels as Jaws 2, but no quibbles about Jaws
Steven Spielberg's second feature film (and one of his most challenging projects), Jaws was THE blockbuster event of 1975. Based on Peter Benchley's novel, this very effective thriller set box office records higher than any previous film....and made ...
Pros: Gripping cinematography, classic horror, unforgettable characters Cons: Shark a little mechanical? I don't know any, so it's hard to say
Okay, okay, so I'm 27 years old, and there are tons of Classics I haven't seen. I only saw "Goonies" a year ago, after the relentless prodding of my friend Tim, and it's an okay flick. If I would have seen it when I was a pup, I would have liked it...
Pros: The Best Creature Feature Ever Cons: But not without its flaws, see review

Pros: Steven Spielberg's talent was fresh and raw; the ensemble acting had perfect chemistry Cons: The third act's Moby Dick pursuit drags a bit; the success of this movie spawned imitators like Grizzly and Pirahna
The first memory I have of the movie Jaws involves my sixth-grade classmate Chris Conner. Chris was one of the funniest kids I knew back then in the mid-1970s. He had a splatter of pale freckles worthy of Jackson Pollock, a haircut always just...
Pros: Everything about this movie proves Spielberg's Genius. Cons: None.
Jaws (1975) Directed by Steven Spielberg"Martin, it's all psychological. You yell barracuda, everybody says, "Huh? What?" You yell shark, we've got a panic on our hands on the Fourth of July." Mayor Vaughn. Is Jaws a ...
Pros: Must-see unforgettable, classic contemporary monster flick from the 70's Cons: DVD is so lacking missing potential extras
Not the Boss, mind you, but rather the Real American Badass monster of a fish is back 25 years after he first took a bite out of the box office in 1975. Well, he never really left, did he? But it is his 25th birthday and he is back in our minds...
Pros: Dreyfuss, Sheider, Shaw, "Bruce" and one killer music score ... Cons: Uhm, an irrational, lifelong fear of the ocean ...
Authors note: Be sure to check out my other crewmates aboard this leaky little tub christened "Orca". Hey ZentropaJK, can we get Mike to take off that damn eye patch and peg leg now, I think he's starting to scare...
Pros: One of the greatest horror films of all time. Cons: Too many airings on TBS and TNT.
A few years ago, I saw a movie called Crazy People starring Dudley Moore. It was about an advertising executive who supposedly went crazy and started writing product slogans that were brutally honest. For example, he wrote this slogan for a...
Pros: You name it! Cons: The guy wasn't wearing any sneakers!
Generally, I would be loathe to begin a movie review with a spoiler, and in fact, have never done so yet. But if you are one of the half a dozen people in the country who has not seen Steven Spielberg’s spectacular shark epic “Jaws,” then you might want ...
Pros: Touching story of a sheriff and his shark Cons: Opened the floodgate for Hollywood Blockbusters
that-guy knows no topic he can't get off of

Pros: It was the best of Spielberg Cons: It is the worst of Spielberg
Call me Fez Monkey…
With it’s release in 1975, Jaws accomplished two apparently contradictory things: while scaring the ever-lovin píss out of would be beach-goers it started a hysterical hatred of sharks, while at the same time helping...
Pros: Suspenseful, More Character development than most blockbuster films, Musical score, Tight direction by Spielberg Cons: Some unrealistic elements, some stereotypical towns people

Now, I know that most Merican Movie goers have already seen this movie, so I won't be a talkin too much about the pic - per say. I'm goin ta pull a Paul Harvey on ya, and give ya...the rest of the story.
Pros: The last act; gradual awareness of the shark's power that builds throughout the film Cons: The series never explains why New England great whites are so big.
Retired New York police officer Martin Brody (Roy Scheider) is starting his first summer as police chief of Amity, Massachusetts, a tourist town built on an island, when one of his officers makes a gruesome discovery on the beach: a dead woman with only ...
Pros: JAWS features strong character development and a great story Cons: The film is definitely flawed, but its flaws are up for debate
Let me start off by saying I watched this movie about two weeks ago and took notes. If I neglect anything or make mistakes in the review, blame it on Mike Bracken for changing the dates on this whole:
Pros: Classic horror, great cast, plenty of drama and suspense. Cons: May be a little dated now.
Jaws these days is somewhat of a classic among thriller or monster movies. Released in 1975 the 'Monster' in this film had come along way from the likes of King Kong back in 1933. The film Jaws was adapted from a best selling book by Peter Benchley. ...
Pros: exciting, vicious shark, good character development, music score Cons: shark can look funny at times
Note: This is a write-off to commemorate the 25th anniversary of JAWS. Names of the participants for this write-off will be posted at the end of this review.
Summer time, time for fun, time for love, time for Martha Stewart’s...
Pros: Exciting, Well-written, Humorous Cons: The first thirty minutes, That stupid mayor
When Mike_Bracken asked me to join in the Jaws 25th Anniversary Write-Off I was honored. I mean, it’s my first write-off and I’ll be joined with 27 other folks for a big wall of Jaws epinions. Cool! Then I started to worry about...
Pros: Good performances by lead actors, some heart stopping scenes, good characterization Cons: Some of the action scenes are a bit cheesy
The cop Brody is shoveling a mixture of fish parts and blood into the ocean, hoping to attract the great white shark. And suddenly the shark appears out of nowhere, snapping, before it disappears back into the water. As the shark circles around the boat, ...
Pros: Great film, great extras Cons: Not Widescreen
I was ten when Jaws came out, too young in my parent's view to see what was being called the most frightening movie ever made. Among my friends, Jaws was the subject of conversation for months. Shark model kits, shark posters, shark...
Pros: Great performances, perfect score, very suspenseful, very entertaining Cons: A tad long
When you talk about movies and success, it is difficult to discuss without talking about Jaws. When you talk about suspense, it may even be impossible. Way back in 75 this seemingly doomed film broke box office records, becoming the most successful ...
Sometimes a movie is more than just a movie. Sometimes a movie takes you to another place, takes you back to memories and feelings, just makes you happy. For me, Jaws is one of those movies. Whenever I think about it, or watch it, I go back to high ...
Pros: The cast, the direction, the music, everything! Cons: n/a
One of my favorite moments in "Jaws" lasts only about two seconds. Literally, if you blink, you miss it. Brody (Roy Schieder), the police chief in a small island resort town, has found a dead girl on the beach. With a strong suspicion that it was a...
Pros: Acting, cinematography, Spielberg's direction Cons: Depiction of the commonality of shark attacks is inaccurate
Throughout his career, Steven Spielberg has been accused of juvenilizing the movie industry. Spielberg's critics contend that invention of the blockbuster has resulted in story and characters being sacrificed for special effects.
Spielberg's classic about a man-eating shark terrorizing a New York beach community. Jaws is a movie that excels at so many levels, it may be close to the perfect movie. Rarely does one movie so deeply ingrain itself into popular culture. Remember that...
Pros: Interesting story, Good characters, Moments of tension, Lead acting, Direction Cons: Bogged in politics, Some very lame acting moments
Back in the day, my life took an awkward and abrupt turn from The Way Things Were Supposed To Go to The Way Things Are Going. My training in my childhood and the beginning of my young adulthood was in marine biology, specifically the study of sharks. ...
Pros: need I really even start? Cons: not for weak stomachs
The following is an effort to humbly participate in a Write-Off celebrating the 25th Anniversary of this classic horror film. The other talented participants include (and are in no particular order): Mike_Bracken, ZentropaJK, Psychovant,...
Jaws. Just to say the name still inspires fear in some people. Even now, some 26 years after its release, it still strikes a primal nerve. This movie single-handedly caused an entire generation to fear the water. And not just the ocean. All water. T ...
Pros: Taut direction, great suspense, a sweeping musical score, fine performances, and lots of cool thrills to keep you hanging on the edge of your seat. Cons: This film could have been a little bit shorter. Also, maybe this film should have had a faster pace...
NOTE: This film review is part of a write-off of the classic Jaws. Around 26 or so other writers are involved in this project so if you get a chance, read their reviews as well.
Pros: Great cast, writing and direction. Cons: If you are young, the special effects are hokey
To me, an old movie means black and white. To my kids it is how dated the special effects are. I remember seeing this movie in the theaters and being scared senseless. Even after visiting the studio and seeing the mechanical shark that was Jaws, it ...
Pros: Oooo scary movie! Cons: it's a classic..it can't have any cons :)
My little toothy opinion here is just one of the 28 reviews offered as a write-off to commemorate the much anticipated 25th anniversary of one the horror genre's most coveted films. The other participants will be listed at the end of the review so be...
Pros: Fin and music keep the fear and mystery throughout. Shaw, Dreyfuss and Scheider act really well together. Cons: The end is a letdown after a huge buildup.
Okay, my review title sucks and some of you just might be wondering what ol' Jeff is thinking about when he reviews a movie that came out in 1975. Well, just sit down little children and I'll explain myself. You see, Jaws is about to enter the realm of...
I was quite flattered when Mike_Bracken asked me to participate in this, I've never done a write off before, so I have no idea if I'm doing it right. However, I'll just do what I normally do and hopefully it'll be alright. I purposely didn't read...
Pros: Jaws is the ultimate creature movie. Cons: There could have been more interaction between Brody and Ellen.
Who hasn’t thought twice about getting into the water after seeing “Jaws”? Although the popularity of some horror/creature movies may fall by the wayside, the 1975 film has stood the test of time. This Steven Spielberg movie successfully combines the ...
Pros: script, acting, characters, action, and ending Cons: nothing at all
Indeed, however, we need a bigger screen tv. I returned from a Jaws movie marathon shown on My 45. The marathon started on Tuesday, and ends today. My summer vacation, before I go back to BC, was ok, but I thought it would be great to watch all the Jaws ...
Pros: fine script, directing, acting, well paced Cons: some misstatements of fact
What I remember about “Jaws” after I saw it on the big screen was how afraid I was to even go into a swimming pool. Few scary movies affect me this way. What is wonderful about “Jaws” is that it is frightening due to suspense more than to gore. ...
Pros: One of the greatest suspense movies of all time Cons: It spawned three sequels
So here I am, at home because of some allergy testing that I have to undergo this afternoon. RFR and I had just watched the new 25th Anniversary DVD of Jaws the night before and sleepily, I wandered into the CowHaus' massive, titanium-walled...
Pros: The cowed feeling the movie brings to the heart and mind. Cons: The failure of the movie to fully develop some of its characters.
THE FIRST VICTIM: JAWS
An azure crinkle of undulating waves. Rays from a bloated July sun pinwheel somnolently like sequined propellor blades. Lacy crests of foam gleam with a knife-like edge of diamond-glitter. A figure, slight, voluptuous,...
Pros: Great acting, music, filming. A must see for all adults. Cons: Has some slow parts that may be lost on those who are action hungry.
I was so excited when Jaws came out on DVD. My sister and I watch Jaws every Thanksgiving-don't exactly know why but it is now a tradition. The movie starts out with a bang, a young man follows "Chrissy", our first victim to the ocean. Chrissy ...
Pros: Roy Scheider and Richard Dreyfuss. Cons: None.
I first went to see this movie in the summer of 1975 when it was playing at a drive-in theatre. I really enjoyed this movie very much and have watched this numerous of times thereafter.
Steven Spielberg directed this very powerful drama of...
Pros: Introduces Jaws. Brody and Quint's characters are unchanged from book to film. Cons: Ellen & Hooper have an affair. The shark is not as monstrous in the book.
Jaws: Book Good; Movie Better It is hard to write about a book that has been turned into a movie without comparing the two. Jaws is particularly difficult, because in my humble experience the book that has come first is usually better than the movie, ...
When I was younger (MUCH younger), I was so terrified of sharks, so completely obsessed with questions as to the purpose of their existence, that I imagined they dwelled in ALL types of water, including swimming pools. I was convinced that they were...
Pros: Spielberg's direction; three great lead actors; intense action and suspense Cons: Some scenes may not be suitable for some younger viewers
What Hitchcock's PSYCHO did for motel showers in 1960, Steven Spielberg's 1975 masterpiece JAWS did for the beaches, which is to say, it scared everyone away from there, or at least made them think twice about going into the water. Opening on June 20,...
Pros: Jaws is: thrilling, terrifying, extremely suspenseful. Wise to not show the shark early on. Cons: None.
Steven Spielberg's film "Jaws" is the one in which his directing genius truly began to show. He created a thrilling, suspenseful film filled with genuine scares that, for most of the film, play on the audience's imagination. The performances are...
Pros: great writing, acting, and suspense Cons: only that it inspired a thousand rip-offs
Three moronic sequels have not dimmed the power of Steven Spielberg's Jaws. In fact, the sequels have only made the extraordinary qualities of the original more pointed. The shark was never the point; the characters were.
Pros: You can see it again and again. Cons: Sleeping that night might not be an easy thing.
Jaws, we all recognize the theme instantly when hearing it. Those ominous sounds of "dahh dump, dahhh dump, da dump, da dump" can send chills up my spine even after seeing it so many times. What is it that makes this movie stand out?
Pros: Excellent picture and sound! Awesome movie! Cons: I would have liked to have seen more outtakes
I just bought this DVD yesturday and I am very impressed. The picture and sound quality are unmatched. There is tons of extras that will keep you busy for hours. The only complaint that I found was that there should have been some more outtakes, but...
Pros: Great acting, great soundtrack, great story and direction. Cons: None
If you could remake any movie you want, what would you do to it and who would be in it? It’s a very fun thing to imagine. This is my second in a series of movies that I will “remake.” This isn't because I don't like how it was done the first time, or...
Pros: the music, the tension, the acting Cons: none
Let me just say that this is my all time favorite movie. I remember seeing this for the first time at the theater. I was 13 at the time and had to beg and plead to get my dad to take me to it. He and my mom had already seen it. For my dad to pay to...
Pros: Just about everything... Cons: Captions appear all over the TV screen
" Mr.Vaughn...what we are dealing with here is a perfect engine...ah,an eating machine. It's really a miracle of evolution...All this machine does is swim, and eat,and make little sharks... "
Pros: Good performances. Brilliant direction. Excellent use of music to heighten mood. Cons: Period flavor.
Norman gathered together a few of his old cronies from the old actors home the other evening and the group of them sat around the lounge drinking Sloe Gin Fizzes and reminiscing about pictures they had made back in their glory days. One old coot brought...
Is this movie new? Yes and no. The year two thousand marks the dawning of the new millennium and century. But for avid movie buffs the year two thousand marks the 25th anniversary of the most frightening film ever made - Jaws.
Pros: Tense action, marvelous performances, pinpoint direction Cons: Some heavy-handed dialogue and plot
Steven Spielberg once said that when he looks back on "Jaws," he remembers a time when he was either more adventurous, or more stupid; he's not sure which. I like to think that's it's a little of both. While the impeccable, audience-friendly eye that...
Pros: Riveting. Great Acting and Filmmaking Skill shown Cons: If your a small impressionable child: Parents getting ready to pay for therapy!
Recently I've been reminiscing over the movies that made up the better part of my childhood and I just realized that Steven Speilberg's films have made up the majority of my childhood movie watching experience. Jaws was one of the first movies to...
Pros: One of the finest films ever created Cons: The terrible films that followed
I figured this would be an apt title for my review, since it is one of the greatest movie lines ever written (actually ad-libbed) and belongs to, what is in my opinion, a masterpiece. I think it's safe to say that out of any film I have ever laid my...
Pros: Revamped, repackaged, new format, neat extras Cons: n/a
This latest repackage of the classic Stephen Spielberg film is a must for its fans. The film itself is untouched other than being digitally remastered but the extras are well worth the money for the disc.
Pros: Scary, exciting, well-acted. Cons: Hokey ending but you won't care.
It's fairly common knowledge now that the reason the audience rarely ever sees the shark in JAWS is because they could never get it to actually work. Instead of being hampered by this problem, Spielberg used it to his advantage to create one of the best...
Pros: Not that scarey Cons: can predict what will happen
For those of you who have given this movie a 1 star, you were obviously not born yet or allowed to get into the movies to appreciate how scary it was at that time. For the person who said that it was too gory - bingo! It's about a maneating shark! What...
Pros: Characters, script, scenery, story, cast and music Cons: Special Effects
Steven Spielberg has produced many horror movies since "Jaws", and for the most part they have all been exceptional. However, "Jaws" was a masterpiece in that it was an all-around exercise in intrigue, action and fear.
Pros: Wonderful script,Wonderful acting, brilliant film Cons: The shark is rubber!!
The one and only Jaws is a classic that to this day makes you think.
Be honest if you have seen it,hasn't there been at least one time when you have been in the sea and the hair's on the back of your neck have stood up because your convinced that...
Pros: One of the greatest horror movies of all time! A masterpiece!!! Cons: None that come to mind.
WHY WAS JAWS SO SCARY? Like most films, Jaws is one of those movies that keeps you pinned to the edge of your seat! There is plenty of action, horror & suspense! From the very beginning to the very end, you may NEVER want to go to the beach again! ...
Pros: Much better than the book -- Benchley improved on his characters. Cons: hard to find a flaw with this one.
JAWS the movie is a lot different than the novel but at the same time it is written by the same author, Peter Benchley. What I liked the best about this movie is the use of the suspense and you don't always see the shark. I saw the movie after ...
Pros: Quint's acting on being masticulated. . .! Cons: Traumatised Spielberg himself!
When the special edition of this classic oceanoGRAPHIC thriller was released earlier this August it was a bloody swim down the deeps of terror-for me! And so I got me a copy. . . . To say the least, THERE WILL NEVER BE A FILM SHOT IN SUCH REALISM;there ...
This is a truly disturbing movie about the helplessness of man when he is in the water. Jaws introduced the audience to a new kind of terror: the Great White Shark.
Jaws takes us to a small New England community, Amity Island, that is being...
Pros: Scheider, Dreyfuss, Shaw, Spielberg Cons: First half not as good as second
In 1975 Steven Spielberg was a young television director. He had made a big splash with a T.V. movie called Duel, starring Dennis Weaver, and was ready to make the jump to the big screen. He chose to make that jump with Jaws.
Jaws, based on a novel...
Pros: Very nicely done. Suspenseful. Not too cheesy. Cons: One awfully written character. You may cover your eyes during some scenes.
This was how my husband felt when he finally talked me into watching this movie for the first time this week. Okay, so I'm a little behind sometimes in the movie department. I'm 26 years old and the first time I saw any of the Star Wars movies I was in...
Pros: cinematography, cast, story, script, direction Cons: characters
Dickie Goodman had a top five novelty hit, "Mr.
Jaws", which mixed his rapid-fire mock interviews
with answers that were snipped from contemporary
hit singles. It began something like this...
Pros: The direction -- this is a Hitchcockian thriller, not a slasher film or mindless blockbuster -- the performances (so realistic!, so telling!), the way in which Spielberg gets you on a string without ever taking you over the edge, as Hitchcock so often did. Cons: None -- this is a perfect film, and even if I believed that, say, Schindler's List was generally superior (and I don't) I can't imagine anybody not admitting that it's a lot sloppier. What we have here is...a masterpiece.
By Max Scheinin.
I've seen Jaws many times, and the film doesn't grow stale. It doesn't become less exciting. And I find myself puzzled by the complaints that Spielberg's 1975 masterpiece (released the same year as Nashville, Barry Lyndon, The...
Pros: Best Jaws movie of them all, has aged magnificently Cons: Unsettling, gory, and violent
"Jaws" was a frightening movie to watch 25 years ago, when it was first released in the theaters. That fright, and the suspense and horror that are also part of the movie, can still be experienced today.
A small island town is terrorized by a massive killer shark who has no mercy on the swimmers of Amity Island. This classic story starts off on a clear night near the ocean when two young lovers go for a swim and one of them does not return. A small tug...
Pros: The best this movie has looked or sounded at home. Cons: Might spoil you for releases.
Summer has always been a big movie season since kids have nothing to preoccupy themselves with and their parents can entertain them only so long. Hollywood has known this but it wasn't until 1975, when Steven Spielberg's adaptation of Peter Benchley's...
Pros: fantastic flick..you can watch it over and over with the same reaction Cons: none
I saw this movie when it first came out...big screen...big sound. You could feel yourself cringe within the few opening frames...girl in water..legs dangling...Jaws had your eyes glued to the screen right from the start.
Ok so you saw the movie way way back when.
Did it scare you? Did you stay away from the beach for the rest of the summer?
I can recall the exact sit I sat in the the theatre. I know who I was with.I even know which parts gave me nightmare.....
How this movie is considered horror is beyond me. From what i gather most people buy this movie because it was directed by Spielberg and therefore must be great. I found this movie to be very dull and predictable. Since I am a huge fan of horror movies...
Pros: Spielberg, Sheider, Shaw, Dreyfuss, the soundtrack, the acting, almost everything Cons: It was followed by Jaws 3 and 4
Starring
Roy Scheider as Chief Martin Brody
Richard Dreyfuss as Matt Hooper

Lorraine Gary as Ellen Brody
Murray Hamilton as Mayor Vaughn
Jeffery Kramer as Hendricks
Carl Gottlieb as Meadows
...
Pros: Still great for a scare Cons: bonus features leave some to be desired
Jaws .... another movie to torture myself with fear of the ocean.
And to make matters worse... I have relocated to the setting of Jaws. New England. (I am STILL not going near the ocean.)
Pros: The movie has great acting in it. Anouther great part of the film is its interpretation and directing. Cons: The plot is a not so great. The screen play could have used some work.
Jaws is one of the most epic tales to ever grace the silver screen. The story takes place in a small massatusets town. Within is the shore. By the shore is the ocean. They ocean which contains the erie monster which has found it's was into it's waters....
Pros: An oldie but goodie. The music alone can send shivers up your spine. Cons: Not for small kids of course...or weak-stomached adults.
This was one of the first horror movies I ever saw as a teenager (many moons ago!) and it sticks in my mind as a true classic. The music alone can send shivers up your spine because you KNOW that Jaws is coming and someone is going to be bleeding soon. ...
Pros: It's a classic! One of the All-Time Best! Cons: Don't watch this movie before a vacation at the beach... unless you want a reason to stay on shore!
Sorry... I HAD to ask!
This is one of the scariest flicks I've ever sat through... and it's even scarier to think it's been nearly a quarter century since I sat there, on opening day, in the FIRST showing... in the FRONT ROW!
I remember the first day my stepfather Peter, sat down next to water one of his favorite movies of all time. I was still too young to know what I was about to get into, for all I knew Jaws was just the scary plastic shark in the Universal Studios...
Pros: Great tension, story, special effects Cons: can't think of a single one
I remember the first time I saw this movie. It scared me to death, several years later when I was visiting relatives in Washington state I went to the ocean and was terrified to even go in the water because of this movie.
This is the movie that...
Pros: Action pack and full of suspense and drama.

Pros: Great movie that has turned into a classic. Cons: none.
Ah, the memories. Most movies do not have as good of success as Jaws did. You have to remember, this movie was made 25 years ago based on the book Jaws. After reading the book I have to say that this movie is one of those rare occurances where the...
This movie is a timeless classic directed by one of the kings, Steven Spielsberg. It was created in the mid seventies and quickly became an overwhelming success.
The story is about a great white shark which terrorises the community...
Pros: Tension, pacing Cons: The un-accounted for dog...?

Pros: Special effects, Jump factor Cons: Total fear of the ocean
Any child who was raised in the 70' and 80's has to have seen this movie. For it's time the special effects were amazing and frightening. No one who has seen this movie will ever enter the ocean without hearing the unforgettable Da-na...Da-na, or...
Pros: Original plot for its time, realistic, superb acting Cons: Can't think of any

I fell in love with this classic horror film at age 6 and at 29 I love the fact that it was brought back out. For those of you that saw it and hated it PLEASE give this one another chance. There are new scenes and the music is totally picture perfect....
Ever since I was 8 years old, I have become both enamored and horrified by sharks because of Jaws. Everything from the film's score to the magnificent props, show contemporary audiences why this film is one of the greatest ever made.
Pros: Richard Dreyfuss makes the movie great Cons: No cons
When I first saw the movie jaws in my youth, I was so afraid to take a bath alone. For those who haven't seen Jaws yet, it is about a scientist, police chief and a sailor who sets out to find and destroy a shark that has killed people on Amity Island....
Pros: One of the best movies ever! Cons: You might not want to go swimming for a while!
Jaws has got to be one of my favorite movies. It's really hard to find a movie of this caliber anymore. What can be more scary than the thought of being consumed alive by an animal with, as Quint says, "lifeless eyes".
But it's not the suspense...
In 1975, Jaws scared everybody from going to the beach.
In this film, the town of Amity NY has a shark scare when a swimmer is eaten by a great white shark just before the 4th of July weekend. The mayor does not want to tell anyone so that...
Pros: Very well done for that time era...a classic film for any day Cons: N/A

Pros: Picture quality, music, features Cons: Dialog not surround but still clean
I remember when I was much younger begging my parents to let me se Jaws. Even though we lived in Kansas no where near a body of water, I couldn’t sleep well for several nights afterwards. I just had to pick up the new 25th anniversary DVD when it came...
Pros: Great acting and directing. Digitally remastered edition looks great on DVD. Cons: Should have stopped with Jaws I.
Just picked up the 25th Anniversary Collector's Edition of the Jaws DVD. I have seen this movie probably about a hundred times before on either VHS or TV. However, this new digitally remastered version is really superb. The colors, scenes, and even...
Pros: A lot better than the horrid book, good cast and effects Cons: One very unrealistic effect almost ruins ending
This movie is about a shark eating people. But what did you expect from a movie called JAWS.
The story goes like this: One night outside of the beach town of Amity a girl is eaten by a shark. The mayor wants to cover it up so the town will make...
Pros: Three of the best actors ever cast Cons: I haven't seen any yet!
Forget all this '....just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water...' hype! It's started again now, since they've put it on DVD!
I suppose most people think the fundamentals are 'Reading,wRiting and 'Rithmetic?! WRONG! It's more like...
Pros: Story, Script, Cast Cons: Dates its age a little, but thats it
Not only is this a classic tale of nature vs. man. Brought to life from the top selling novel, but now is available on DVD in a special edition. Have you ever wondered how they did what they did in the film, were they out in an ocean or in a studio?...
Pros: Great plot, great acting, great movie. Cons: Why weren't the sequels as good as this one?
Based on the book by Peter Benchley, "Jaws" is a classic. It is the movie that continues to make people afraid to go in the water. Amity Island...a nice little town, with a layed back lifestyle. That is, until a large shark decides to drop by...
The basic story involves a giant shark's attacks on the residents of a New England town, and the efforts of three diverse men to stop it. Eventually, the three set out in a small boat in search of the great white.
This is still a good movie. It keeps you entertained until the end. Keeps you at the edge of your seat as the shark prowls the water in search of its next victim. It's very realistic, it'll make you look around the next time you go into the water....
Generally, a movie based on a book is much much worse than the book itself. But one movie opposes this theory - Jaws. This is an example of a movie outshining its book immensely. The action starts right at the beginning of the movie and doesn't stop....
Pros: Frightening. Musical score adds to tension Cons: Might be too powerful for some kids.
I enjoyed this movie. I can still hear the tum tum tum of the music as the giant beast approaches. The cast was outstanding and so were the special effects.
Although this is not an event likely to happen, you can't help but imagine that it...
All there is at first is darkness followed by the rising music score and a p.o.v. shot from underwater. This is all it takes to be scared...and the story hasn't even begun....
Amity Island, a resort community off the shores of massachusetts...
a movie to watch over and over again by bettingbubbles ,Jun 27 '05
Pros: My favorite part is the music it still sends shivers up and down my spine. Cons: The movie might be to scary for young children under 9
The movie is a timeless classic my children love the movie as much as I did when I was a kid. Even with the special effects of todays horror films this movie stands the test of time. A great white shark bent on revenge, attacking anything that may venture into the water.
Good enough to be a classic by blcroft ,May 18 '05
Pros: Very good movies. Rates as a classic shocker thriller with great content. Cons: May be too intense for young ones and may keep you out of the water.
Just saw jaws again with my kids who have never seen it. Its a classic. They were into just as I was as a teenager. The movie still holds water, just don't go into the water after seeing it. It is a nice shocker movie with a real story, involved actors, intense moments and good subtle humor. May be a bit too intense for younger kids. Definitely worth seeing again if you have not seen it in awhile or never have seen it.
Pros: the pros of the movie are the fact that the movie was well thought out. Cons: They could of made the shark look a little more realistic then fake.
I really didn't like Jaws.It wasn't that scary and I'm really into any type of scary movie I can get my hands on.The thing about that movie some of it looked fake. The shark looked plastic.I think they could of done at least a little better with the movie.Although I didn't like the movie as well as some other people did I have to say it did have some really good scenes the beach where they were about to get eaten.A lot of the time you knew when some thing was going to happen just by the music. The movie was predictable in every way possible.
Pros: very good plot about shark attacks a the beach Cons: some special effects are poor
This flick was very good in the aspect that you could see this happening. The person who thought up this movie really knew what he wanted to do and how to put a little terror in going to the beach. The movie takes place at a beach that is visited every year by thousands of people on vacation and some how a shark ends up get into the coved beach area and causes a lot of trouble for the local law,the mayor, and all of the community that thrives off the visitors to their small town.If you really want to see a movie that will make you think wow this could really happen then this is the movie for you.The special effects in this movie are really good for when it was made also it's still good compared to some that are made now it is a must see for all.
