Pros: Story, Photography, Acting, Score Cons: Why can't Hollywood make a film like this more often??
Journey to the Center of the Earth is a film that every science fiction buff should have in his or her collection, but it will appeal to viewers of all ages. It serves as an example of how Hollywood can do a proper science fiction movie if it...
Pros: Cinematography, Score, James Mason, Gertrude & Hans Cons: Iguanas as Dinosaurs, Pat Boone Pop Tunes
I was 9 years old the year the original version of Journey To The Center Of The Earth, (JTTCOTE), saw release. This adaption of fantastical French writer Jules Verne's 1864 novel by the same name, was nominated for 3 Academy Awards, and...
Pros: Bernard Herrman's music score; the amazing visuals Cons: A few corny musical numbers and "funny" moments
A Jules Verne story forms the basis for Henry Levin’s 1959 epic JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH and for once, a film version of a literary classic such as this does the original work some credit. Levin’s film, following a script from Charles Brackett...

An all star cast take part in this wonderful science fiction adventure. Adapted from the novel by Jules Verne this is a sweeping adventure that has enough thrills and entertainment to satisfy every explorer young or old.

Journey to the center of the earth was a novel written by Jules Verne. The story was so good that Walter Reisch made a scene play. The movie was released in 1960 and was classified as an adventure family film. This 132 minute adventure into the unknown ...
Pros: a classic Cons: the effects look a bit dated today.
One of the greatest pure adventure films that Hollywood ever made, 1959's Journey to the Center of the Earth, has become a true classic. Based on the novel of the same name by the legendary Jules Verne, it is a fairly faithful adaption of that highly...
Pros: Great for kids imaginations and it has awesome animation effects! Cons: Corny because events just fall into place too fast and unrealistically
The first time I watched this movie I was in Boise Idaho staying with some relatives. The first thing I will say is that this is a movie that is suitable for all ages and it would be a great DVD to own if you have kids! For adults I can ...
Journey to the Center of the Earth. by jagdaleomkar5 ,Jun 24 '09
Pros: based on famous novel thats why great storyline & theme. Cons: poor direction, special effects and only for kids section movie.
I saw this with my little brothers and they absolutely loved it (it wasn’t ideal for my brother but they actually enjoyed it in the end). As I’ve read the Jules Verne novel 6-7 times as a kid I was looking forward to the movie and enjoyed the fresh take of using the book as part of the storyline. I suppose a big part of it was sharing the joy of something from my childhood with my bro – I hope they enjoy the book as much as i did.
The accent is on fun and fantasy in this film version of Jules Verne s classic thriller that stars James Mason, Pat Boone, and Arlene Dahl.More at Buy.com Marketplaces
