Pros: Homages to classic films galore, good cast. Cons: Story bogs down a bit in the second act.
Summary: It's basically a cliché to say "they don't make them like they used to," but when it comes to low budget horror cinema from the ‘80s, the sentiment rings true. The "Me" decade was a magical time for cult film fans - a period when the advent ... read more

Pros: Good campy fun with valley girls surviving on a dead Earth. Cons: Plot holes, some poor acting.
Summary: Preface For the longest time I have wanted to make a list of my favorite movies in my favorite genre of movies, which is easily the Post-Apocalypse genre. My approach for this list is going to be much different than my lists for ... read more

Pros: A fun movie made up of mostly empty calories. Cons: The DVD is bottom of the barrel for extras.
Summary: You know, I don't think I ever saw Night of the Comet in the theaters - but then again, talking with my friends now (and my friends at the time), I don't think anyone else did either. While I have no hard empirical data, I suspect that most of Night's ... read more

Pros: A great 80s film with style, humor, thrills and pure entertainment! Cons: -
Summary: Let's think back in the 1980s shall we? Way before I was born, a film called Night of the Comet appeared in 1984. A film that mixed humor, horror and thrills just right. However, 5 years later, I was born and got in on all the scoop of this film. I still ... read more

Pros: A great snapshot of 1980s culture. Many elements from other movies are used here. Cons: No horror, no real suspense, special effects are a joke. Pass on this one!
Summary: Follow the trend, watch a zombie movie! That's how I discovered Night of the Comet and you could to. You see, with the remake of Dawn of the Dead (UGH!) and the release of Land of the Dead I was forced to revisit my favorite trilogy. You wouldn't know ... read more

Pros: Great end-of-the-world imagery on what passes for a starvation budget in Hollywood Cons: Obviously dated in its dialogue, fashions, and music
Summary: More than a few films have flown under a lot of moviegoers' radar screens, particularly in the genres of science fiction and horror. NIGHT OF THE COMET, which was released in late 1984 to minimal fanfare, is just such a picture. Its wacky combination ... read more

Pros: A forgotten piece of 80s culture that deserves cult status; a lot of fun Cons: The ending wusses out
Summary: Here’s one of my all-time favorite movies from the 1980’s, NIGHT OF THE COMET. Although this is far from being a great picture technically speaking, in my opinion, its probably one of the best, most underrated movies from that decade, and one enjoyable ... read more

Pros: Zombies, Valley girls, and evil scientists. Cons: One of the most underrated movies ever.
Summary: "They were exaggerating - totally!" This is the best line of the whole movie. When Reggie (played by Catherine Mary Stewart) expresses her surprise that her little sister, Samantha, is not dead, Sam spouts out this famous Mark Twain line. This is ... read more

Pros: valley girls, eighties music, zombies,
cars demolished with automatic weapons Cons: none unless you dont like campy zombie films
Summary: This movie originally came to me on late night tv in Akron, Ohio. I was instantly a fan and had to have it on VHS so I could watch it and find things I didn't see the first time. It's subtle like that. C'mon, don't tell me you haven't indulged the ... read more

Pros: A decent movie, fairly entertaining. Cons: Parts of the movie have a very dated (80s) look.
Summary: "Night of the Comet" is one of the many quirky films released in the 1980s that doesn't neatly fit in any one category. Although it's obviously science fiction, it's also comedy, horror, and a little action-adventure. Overall, it's an ... read more
